No confirmation yet of the (strong) rumors that Penelope Cruz will be a Bond Girl.

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 11, 2013 ? Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, EON Productions; Gary Barber, Chairman & CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer; Michael Lynton, CEO, Sony Entertainment, Inc, and Amy Pascal, Co-Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that Daniel Craig will once again return as the legendary British secret agent in the 24th James Bond film and Sam Mendes will also return to direct the screenplay written by John Logan. The film is set for release in UK theaters on October 23, 2015 and in US theaters on November 6, 2015.

SKYFALL?, the 23rd James Bond film, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK; it was the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray and was the most critically acclaimed film in the history of the longest-running film franchise.

Commenting on the announcement, Wilson and Broccoli said, ?Following the extraordinary success of SKYFALL, we?re really excited to be working once again with Daniel Craig, Sam Mendes and John Logan.?

?I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time,? said Mendes.

Barber added, ?We are thrilled to reunite the extraordinary talents of director Sam Mendes with our star Daniel Craig for the next great Bond adventure.? He added, ?As evidenced by the phenomenal success of our last collaboration with EON Productions and Sony, the incredible legacy of this 51-year-old franchise continues to amaze.?

Lynton and Pascal said, ?It?s a privilege to work on the Bond films. EON, John Logan and Sam Mendes have come up with an extraordinary follow up to SKYFALL and we, along with our partners at MGM, can?t wait to share this new chapter with audiences all over the world.?

Great stuff!

Will this be the last Bond to star Daniel Craig, I wonder?

The plot of Skyfall seemed to be constantly referencing his maturing age...

I believe the character of Bond is typically shaped by the period in which the films are produced.  The 2000-era Craig Bond was more physically intensive as a direct response to Jason Bourne.

I don't hate him as Bond, I think the films are well done & are alot of fun. But I agree, I'd like to see a return to the suave Bond.

'Bond 24' to be based on novel 'Devil May Care'?

The 24th James Bond movie is rumoured to be based on 2008 novel Devil May Care.

According to The Sun, studio bosses have chosen Sebastian Faulks's Bond novel as the basis for Daniel Craig's next outing.

The book, released to mark the 100th anniversary of creator Ian Fleming's birth, is set in 1967 as a sequel to The Man with the Golden Gun.

Devil May Care follows Bond battling a chemist named Dr Julius Gorner, who aims to control Britain.

Sam Mendes recently confirmed that he will return to direct Bond 24, following the huge success of last year's Skyfall.

No you're not. Casino Royale was good because it was a good expansion of the novel's story. The main weak point was Craig's interpretation of Bond, but the story was good enough to make up for it. Quantum of Solace was just stupid IMO, and I didn't bother with Skyfall.

I consider these mislabeled Jason Bourne movies and eagerly await the return of the real 007. In fact, because of my dislike of Craig as Bond, I refuse to see anything with him in it. OTOH, he'd be perfect as a live-action Captain Caveman. He wouldn't even need makeup.

Not really, I believe the Craig version of Bond is the one closer to the original Fleming books, specially Casino Royale.   The suave version people want to see didn't just happen, which is the point of the movies like CR, and Skyfall most of all.  I think now in Bond 24 we will see a more suave Craig Bond exactly because of the growing pains he's went through in CR and Skyfall.

Remember the Bond in Goldeneye up to Die Another Day is a Bond that's been 007 for years already, the Creig bond is a reboot/restart, in CR he had just become a 00, so you saw him make mistakes and get too attached to Vespa etc.  Likewise in Skyfall there was still attachments and emotional baggage that he worked though by the end of the movie.   We're talk about a good chunk of character development that the Bond Pierce played had already went through thanks to all the old movies.

Brosnan was boring as hell as 007, hell Roger Moore was better, Craig brings back the vibe the Connery films had

All I remember from the Brosnan films was Denise Richards ######
