Free video editing software for Windows 8?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering is there any free video editing applications out there for Windows 8.

I want to be able to put clips from my HDPVR and add some commentary to them.  I've tried Windows Live movie maker but I dislike it as its too basic for my needs.

Well... If you think Windows Live movie maker is too basic, you're not going to get far with free software I'm afraid.

There are some nice <$100,= editors out there if you don't want to spend too much money on starters. Adobe Premiere Elements comes to mind, or Pinnacle Studio.

Als, have a look at this: http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

There's also Jashaka (http://www.jahshaka.com/), an open source editor. But this one has leaps and bounds for development. Not sure what the status is at this point.

hope it helps.

Movie Maker on Windows 8 is really bad for me. It introduces weird banding on the output (input Canon VixiaHF31)

The basic version of Lightworks is free, but contains some limitations (format support, stereoscopic, project sharing).
