Twinkies: First batch at Walmart

Recommended Posts

Walmart Twinkies, yes they're back and Walmart is the first to have the cream filled golden cake called the Twinkie! They are selling them 3-days earlier than their expected comeback date. Walmart got the first batch of the recently reborn Hostess brand as Twinkies made it to the racks at 1,600 Walmart stores nationwide today. The remaining stores will offer them by Sunday,  on July 12, 2013.

The new and improved Hostess Twinkie will outlast the old Twinkie by three weeks with the expiration date. The original finger shaped cake snake was good for about 26-days, but now you can safely keep them in the cabinet for 45-days, but for sure the new owners would rather see you devour the sponge cake dessert sandwiches and buy more than store them away.

Hostess products have been out of the store and out of production since November when Hostess went belly-up. This means many of you must have horror stories of the holidays without Twinkies, but that's not about to happen again. While Christmas might not have been the same without your Twinkies, that's all in the past now.

One thing the new Hostess owners may need to worry about is that in the absence of the Twinkies, Ho-Ho and other delectable delight snack foods from this brand, many other big brand names stepped up to the plate and made a facsimile of the product. Some of these are very good, or maybe even better.

Sarah Lee is one of those big names and their version of the Twinkie is not bad at all, some adults actually prefer the Sara Lee Twinkie-like offering to the original because they are a bit lighter and not as sweet. Besides, ?Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee! Pitch.com gave the Sara Lee Twinkie knock-off praise back in June, suggesting that even the box looks better. The cake itself will give the original Twinkies a run for their money.

Walmart put their Twinkies out three days early, they were originally slated for a Monday debut, but why keep the masses away from the coveted Twinkie any longer than you have to? All right in the world today now that the Twinkie is back!

45 day shelf life .... makes me wonder what they added to Twinkies. :ermm:

Actually any cake product will last that long or longer, if they're packed in a properly sterilized factory and then packed in air tight bags(possibly alternatively filled with inert gasses), no fancy chemicals or crap needed. also if there's enough sugar, bacteria won't grow anyway as the bacteria uses more energy to sustain itself than it has available to multiply.
