New York women killed while feeding cats

SODUS, NY ?  A mother and her adult daughter were killed inside their neighbor's home in upstate New York where they had gone to feed his cats while he was out of town, state police said Monday.

"It's very possible they surprised or interrupted a burglary," Maj. Mark Koss told reporters outside the single-family home in the rural Wayne County town of Sodus. He said police found evidence that someone had broken into the house.

The bodies of Terri Moulton, 54, and her daughter, Stacey Moulton, 30, were found by Terri's husband, Charles, at about 4 p.m. Sunday. Charles Moulton had grown concerned and gone to look for the women when, after three hours, they had not returned home from checking on their neighbor's pets, Koss said.

Police did not say how the women were killed.

Koss said it appeared several small fires had been started inside the home and burned themselves out without spreading.

The home's owner, Shawn Yager, was expected to return to town on Monday.

Troopers were looking for information from the public about a dark blue SUV, possibly a Mercury Mountaineer, that they said may have been involved.

Where is Eric Holder when you need him? Clearly this mother and daughter had their civil rights taken away.
