Angry Birds Star Wars on Windows Phone 8 gets new levels
by John Callaham
Even though Rovio has announced plans to release Angry Birds Star Wars II in mid-September
, the developer behind the hit puzzle game series isn't done yet with its original mash up of Angry Birds with George Lucas' universe. Today, Windows Phone 8 owners can download a free update to Angry Birds Star Wars that offers quite a bit of new content. The Windows Phone website
states that the update adds 20 new Cloud City levels, inspired by the same location at the conclusion of The Empire Strikes Back. In addition, there's a new bird that's available to use in those levels. Yes, it's Lando Bird, and the smooth taking leader of Cloud City has the special ability to fire three lasers at once.
The new update also includes an all new boss fight as you have to take on the dark side and fight Lard Vader himself. Finally, if you find a golden droid in the game and collect enough stars you can unlock even more bonus levels.
This won't be the last such Angry Birds Star Wars update as Rovio has already announced plans to add more levels based on Return of the Jedi. Three words: Angry Birds Ewoks.
