+BudMan MVC Posted July 17, 2013 MVC Share Posted July 17, 2013 Network Solutions is currently under a DDOS --- https://www.facebook.com/networksolutions Network Solutions is experiencing a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack that is impacting our customers as well as the Network Solutions site. Our technology team is working to mitigate the situation. Please check back for updates. --- Noticed this morning after getting reports of some users not able to reach some sites that we use network solutions dns for. Was seeing response times to some of their name servers either time out or response times above 4000ms which is beyond normal timeout periods, etc. ;; Query time: 4028 msec ;; SERVER: 205.178.190.37#53(205.178.190.37) ;; WHEN: Wed Jul 17 11:07:08 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd:

+BudMan MVC Posted July 17, 2013 Author MVC Share Posted July 17, 2013 I agree you don't hear much about them any more, but I do show them as the 4th largest registrar still 1 GO DADDY United States 32.025% 25,703,368 2 ENOM United States 8.031% 6,445,458 3 TUCOWS Canada 6.858% 5,504,082 4 NETWORK SOLUTIONS United States 6.461% 5,185,478 With over 5mil domains that could of been a lot of outages/issues with name resolution even if only half the domains they are registrar for use them for name services. I know the 2 we point to are responding much better now ;; Query time: 64 msec ;; SERVER: 206.188.198.37#53(206.188.198.37) ;; WHEN: Wed Jul 17 13:54:56 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 58 ;; Query time: 78 msec ;; SERVER: 205.178.190.37#53(205.178.190.37) ;; WHEN: Wed Jul 17 13:55:07 2013 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 58 And on their facebook page they list --- The recent DDOS attack affecting some customers has now been mitigated. Customer websites should be resolving normally, and you should be able to readily access the Network Solutions site. If you continue to have issues, please contact our Customer Service team at 1-866-391-4357. Thanks to everyone for their patience as we resolved this issue. ---
