World of Tanks Beta... AWWWWW YEAH!

I like it.
But unfortunately, I suck at it.

Holy thread resurrection batman! World of tanks has now been released and is free to play on xbox 360. Anyone playing it? I downloaded it last weekend and have been hooked ever since.

 

Quick question, is it better to resreach your way through the british, american or german tank tree if you are after a heavy tank??

Americans have the better heavy tank line.

Downloaded it at the weekend but have yet to try it. It's not honestly my type of game, but free is free so I'll give it a whirl.

I hope we get World of Warplanes soon as well. WoT I'm not a huge fan of but Warplanes I like quite well.

Spent ages building up xp in the panzer II g, only to realise that there is only one more tank i can unlock after that. Balls.

Back to the panzer II and then the II a.

Not in this game they're not. While I would prefer to play the Tiger over the T29 (American equivalent), it is the harder tank to master. The biggest problem the Tiger and the King Tiger have in WoT is that they don't have that much armour and they both suffer from arbitrary top speed limit. KT was powerful in a good player's hands but now with everyone shooting premium ammo armour is kind of useless. Germans have the E-75 which is arguably the best tier 9 tank in the game, but the tier 10s (Maus & E-100) are utter crap.

 

The American tanks on the other hand are a bit faster and they have more gun depression which one might find very useful. That and all their tanks decent to great.

 

If you have any other questions about WoT don't hesitate to ask. While I'm no longer active and up to date on all the little things they introduced in the game, I (plug time) was in the top 250 players on the EU server and I managed to finance my premium account for more than two years through Clan Wars and various competitions from only a 30? starting package (I know people that spent 3000+).

 

I'm currently waiting for War Thunder to release tanks (they're in closed beta) though the developer/publisher doesn't inspire very much confidence after I player one of their games. Here are some in-game screenshots of the Glorious King Tiger:

How is the T1 heavy tank? Im currently building up xp with the m3 lee and can choose either the t1 or the m4. Im going to get both but was thinking of getting the heavy tank first as i dont have a heavy tank yet.

It's rather average. The gun is good but the tank has a big profile. Still, it's generally better to go with the heavy tanks first as you'll have an easier time unlocking equipment for the mediums than the other way around.

Yeah it's ok. I seem to be getting destroyed very quickly in that thing. Not sure if any unlocks will help later on or not. 600hp seems to go very quickly. I have also found the gun does very little damage against the majority of tanks i come across.

Yeah, damage per shot is pretty low compared with other heavies in its tier, but the damage per minute is higher. You also need to learn enemy weak spots as penetration isn't too great either.

Yeah i'm learning that the hard way lol. I'm getting better in it. Really have to make sure my tank is at an angle to others.
