iPod Touch not charging

Recommended Posts

So I was out with my iPod in listening to music (believe it or not) when suddenly it turned off. I didn't know how close to death it was (must have been at 70% when I set off), but I plugged it in and left it overnight and it just won't charge. It's been plugged into the wall, 2 different docks, different plugs, my PC, nothing. iTunes doesn't recognise it and I can't get it into DFU mode.

It's a 5th gen so still technically has warranty, but of course I jailbroke it not too long ago, meaning the warranty is void, which is why I want to try and restore it before I take it into an Apple Store.

But does anyone have any other advice for me that they can pass on? I've tried looking through other people's threads but my iPod is just totally dead. When I click the Home button it just shows the low battery icon with the thunderbolt in the middle indicating that it's charging, but it sticks like that for hours.

Any help would be appreciated!

If itunes won't pick it up then chances are they won't know it's been jailbroken. Remove cydia and take it to an apple shop.

I can't remove Cydia because the device doesn't boot up or do anything aside from showing the low battery icon with the thunderbolt.

Oh thought you meant it showed that on home screen. Well if you can't power it up or use it in itunes, they're not gonna know it's jailbroken.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. I've booked an appointment now for Thursday, I just don't want them to fix it, see it's jailbroken then charge me or something :/

As far as I'm aware the battery will be dead, so they'll give you a reconditioned unit and send yours off to have the battery replaced and security seals remade, so they shouldn't know until then :P
