If a laptop has a blu-ray player, will it have DVD writeable capabilities?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am currently looking for a new laptop, i'm looking for it to be future proof, so am looking for one with a blu ray player possibly.

If a laptop has a blu-ray player, will it have DVD writeable capabilities?

or will it just be Read only on both dvd and blu ray formats?

Thank You

Should have DVD R/RW capabilities, at least on my Desktop it does, don't see why a laptop drive wouldn't have the same capability

Not necessarily. Nothing about being able to read BDs implies that it has to be able to write to DVD +/- Rs.

I have a desktop BD-ROM drive that is read-only for all formats, but I think now *most* BD drives have DVD writing abilities but there is no guarantee.

Interesting, I haven't seen one of those in a PC yet, not that I'm looking

OP just make sure there's a RW logon on it and it will wright to DVDs
