+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted July 21, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted July 21, 2013 My current computer chair is at end of life, and was a $70 chair I believe. (not sure if this is the right place to post this) I am wondering what a high end chair looks like? I am looking for something like a lazy-boy but for a computer chair. Any ideas, suggestions? If it takes you 6 months to save for one, do it. Worth every penny.
Tartan
I don't think most ppl have $1000+ to spend on a chair....lets have some realistic options? LaP 1 Share
+theblazingangel MVC Posted July 22, 2013 MVC Share Posted July 22, 2013 I have a version 1 ergohuman (black, mesh, headrest) see here. I've had it for a few years now and I'm very happy with it. When I was shopping for one I was looking for something mid-high end. I found that the aeron chairs are commonly held to be the best thing since sliced bread (in terms of chairs), but there are two issues (besides price) that put me off them and lead to going with the ergohuman. Firstly, no headrest; people have had to resort to building and custom fitting their own. Secondly I wasn't impressed with what I was hearing with regards to back support. There are two options, lumbar and "PostureFit", I think it's lumbar that comes standard, the other you have to pay more for. If I remember correctly, the lumbar support is essentially a big block of polystyrene and pretty easy to break; the other I think is supposed to be better, but obviously more costly, and I worried about how flimsy it kind of looked in pictures. To be fair though, I ordered based on pics on the net only, I didn't ever go and actually try any chairs in store.
+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted July 22, 2013 Author Subscriber² Share Posted July 22, 2013 Alright, I guess no one understands what I mean by Lazy Boy type. All these High-Endish chairs you guys have offered don't look comfortable, they are thin hard seats. I am looking for cushion and puffy soft material....like lazy boys lol

cooky560 Veteran Posted July 28, 2013 Veteran Share Posted July 28, 2013 Plus if you spend that kinda money on a chair, it's pretty unlikely you'll need another chair for a LONG time. It may even work out cheaper by the time the chair needs replacing. Dick Montage 1 Share

If you want sturdy check this chair out http://www.overstock.com/Office-Supplies/Comfort-Products-Commodore-II-Big-and-Tall-Leather-Executive-Chair/6162134/product.html It's a nice chair. LegendaryRamzi
I was always very impressed with the Aeron, until I tried the Embody. http://www.hermanmiller.com/products/seating/performance-work-chairs/embody-chairs.htmlThat one is even better. I suggest you go to a Herman Miller dealer and try them out before you buy.
stereopixels
I bit the bullet and got myself an Aeron nearly two years ago and I still absolutely love it every time I sit in it. The higher price is definitely worth it.
