Net porn block on EVERY home (UK)

Recommended Posts

i do realise this has been posted many times before, but this is a little diffrent, as it was an opt in system before, now it will be blocked for everyone unless you request it to be unblocked.

if anyone want's to create a e-petitian against this, i'll happily sign

Every householder connected to the internet will have their access to online porn blocked unless they ask to receive it.

In a victory for the Daily Mail, David Cameron will announce the move today among a series of measures cracking down on against the tide of web sleaze.

The Prime Minister will warn that internet pornography ? much of it easily accessible to youngsters ? is ?corroding childhood?.

i find the Daily Mails quest to eradicate porn an adult content a little ironic, if you scroll down and look at their articles, some of the images and articles are quite questionable as to how safe they are for children to view.

Block the Daily Mail first. This is an idiotic idea, all done under the belief it'll protect children and anyone exploited for these purposes. Completely ignores the simple fact that anyone who is into that stuff, will have means of getting it regardless

I fully support the blocks for child porn etc, that should have been in place years ago. But i don't agree that i should have to opt-in the fully access the internet. What's going to stop kids from going to relatives houses who don't have the content block on general pornographic material from downloading a few videos to share?

Typical politicians looking to curry favor with the public. So what next from Cameron? Make it so that console manufacturers have to put auto age limits on accounts so kids cant play their Call of Duty that mummy dearest buys every time it gets released? No, won't happen will it? because a kid hasn't been in the news for killing someone, and the Daily Mail haven't had the chance to stick their noses in an blame computer games for the violence.

I can see this turning into what Napster was like back in the day after the recording companies wanted filters on the searches. It'll all be misspelled file names within a few weeks to get around the filters. Complete waste of time.

they add the 2 children who were killed by nutters who had an obsession with child porn, which has nothing to do with legal porn that is on the net, like it's one in the same thing.

another thing i fail to understand, every computer comes with filters to block this!

what will they plan on blocking next? online chat sites, since it's going to be the same idiotic parents that have no idea how to implement the built in filters, that are going to think everything is now safe for their child, so will let their children on computers unsupervised.

Lazy dumb parents who have no idea how to use a computer are ruining things for everyone else.

Its because of lazy parents not teaching their kids how to use the internet safely, as if I'm gonna tell my ISP that I watch porn, that's not right if you ask me, as that list can be used against people to unjustly and unfairly accuse people of sex offenses.  The system should be an "opt in" not opt out.  It would be much better that way.

Sad to see that the government has to do what parents fail to do on a daily basis.

They should 100% block child porn however.

I hope the Daily Mail gets blocked by this filter, a good 50% of their "articles" are "Celebrities" getting out of cars with upskirt shots, bikini "babes" and underwear shoots.

I suppose this is a good idea. It'll make kids more technologically understanding due to all kids fully understanding the concepts of proxies to circumvent this change.

I'm going to hold off commenting on this properly as it seriously boils my blood with how poorly this incompetent government has handled this.

Yup, because porn is responsible, (<---sarcasm)

A nut jub is a nut job, regardless.

This is like when they tried to ban horror flicks.

GOVERNMENT IDIOTS, scapegoating is not the answer. And this wouldn't work as some users above me have already mentioned.

Im waiting for them to keep a list of everyone who "Opts in" for Porn and use that list against you.

Probably why they're trying it. Guess they've never heard of proxies.

They will.  They'll use it in cases where women cry rape (when they say they've been raped but haven't) and put innocent people in prison. Its not right.  If not that then they'll use it to name and shame people for no good reason.

We're adults FFS, we shouldn't be ashamed of watching people have sex.

If we've done nothing wrong why is the government making us all feel like criminals.   I mean think about it, according to them if you watch porn that automatically makes you a rapist or pedophile.

Start hoarding it now Mentlegen. We've got 2 years. In the Air Force here Porn Videos are a form of currency, when you get deployed overseas one of the first questions to ask your new temporary co-workers is "Anyone got any good movies or porn?" And everyone goes to get their external hard drives.

So, what are the sexual assault/rape figures right now?

Someone should do a comparison, so that if the numbers remain unchanged, reasonable people can say 'I told you so'

That awkward moment when you realise that even the Tor Browser Bundle can circumvent this. The whole concept has so many holes.

I already had the indecency of having to ring up EE to have the "adult content" lock removed from my phone because it was blocking Neowin and other sites.

For a little more comfort, next time you have to do this, take your phone into one of their stores and show them what Neowin is, (if possible) and that there's no porn on it (under basic membership) that way your arguement is that it's also blocking legitimate sites.

Oh yeah a good thought.  What about legitmate sites such as Neowin and Google (of all sites)

Whatever they put in place will be circumvented in a matter of seconds.  Absolutely pointless bill backed by moronic politicians trying to do the jobs of moronic parents who are all backed by tabloids that are good at controlling morons.

I am so glad I have absolutely nothing tying me to this hole of a country because I cannot wait to escape.

This is why the world needs to push forward with some form of technocratic government.

Whenever I think of Britain, MPs and technology, it always brings me back to Brass Eye:
