Net porn block on EVERY home (UK)

Recommended Posts

You expect to be able to view porn in a library!?  Yeah, someone's being kinda pathetic there....

You see, you are just like the filter. You never even looked at it properly! Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.

... Well, now I just feel silly. I didn't see the URL in the image at all.  Sorry man.

FWIW, I fully disagree with this stupid crap Cameron is trying to pull.  It's also just not going to work as it's simple to bypass.

It's basically one of the reasons I'll opt-out straight away because I imagine the amount of false-positives it'll flag will be crazy. I think back to school and the amount of things which were blocked without any legitimate reason.

It's also concerning that porn found to be 'immoral' will be made illegal. It's slightly worrying when they use such ambiguous terms as 'immoral' .

Theres a Finnish site which got a hold of the censors list and out of 1047 websites 9 contained child pornography, 9 were unrelated to pornography, 28 had content hard to categorize as legal or illegal, 46 were (legal) child modeling sites and 879 contained only legal pornography. They even added the website criticizing the governments policy to the list...

top lel...and a great day for porno watchers. (and the kiddy fiddlers too)

Easy to circumvent and easy to defend in court. "But the government blocked porn on my computer m'lord, it couldn't have been me downloading all this questionable material"

We're adults FFS, we shouldn't be ashamed of watching people have sex.

If we've done nothing wrong why is the government making us all feel like criminals.   I mean think about it, according to them if you watch porn that automatically makes you a rapist or pedophile.

If your/we shouldn't be ashamed of watching others have sex then why is the whole country crying over having to opt-out of a filter to get that priviledge? They are not blanket blocking access to porn, your just going to have to tick a box to say that you want that kind of content, it's no big deal really.

I've been watching porn since I was a kid, since way back with illegal programming on the huge dishes.

Also watching and downloading porn since 1995, and it hasn't corrupted me in any way.

Also in all those years, I have never ever come across any child porn, but then again, I have never looked for it.

It sure would suck not being able to access porn though, I've already downloaded 300 gigs of full xxx vids this year, lol!!

I have to agree here.  There are a lot of fist shakers and moaners.  Whats the problem of the phone call, it's easy to opt in if you want to.

[but it's the beginning of the end!!] - I hear the cries.  You people make things far more complicated than they appear to be and worry about the what if's and the future.  It's a sensible and workable solution to provide a safeguard for children who are curious and look in the wrong direction for things like this (educational vs damaging).

Good on Cameron, most sensible thing since the no smoking pubs, etc.

If you go into an adult store your name isn't logged in a system.

If this came into force, I think they'd find the same problems the education industry came across many years ago, regarding Internet filtering. It's all well and good blocking pornography, but you'd also have to block proxy sites.

They will moan next that people are pirating it because without the messing about of letting my ISP know that "I would like to watch some porn please?" it will be the easiest way to get it

There are much more things to be concerned about other than your name been added to yet another list. Your name will be on many many lists, some you may not even be aware of. If the infamous Mr Snowden is correct about the spying, they'll probably already know about who browsing what etc.

I'm not bothered about porn being blocked I don't care. However I still think that this system is a joke because with any filtering you will always get unrelated sites blocked due to keywords and if this filtering is very specific it will probably kick up a fuss about perfectly innocent and unrelated websites.

The more the government implement stupid things like this, the less responsible parents will be and it'll be really interesting when the current generation of kids are adults.

That's actually a very good point.

But I don't go into adult stores, so for me it'll be more embarrasing.  I can just see countless sites being incorrectly logged as porn, so thats why i'll be coming off the list.

Thing is, this is introduced to stop children watching porn, well what if the parent wants to watch porn, that means there will be no filter and back to square one again.

It's just all pointless, the focus needs to be on better parenting/education of local blocking policies rather than introduce a rule for EVERYONE even if they don't have children under the age of 18

Next they'll be banning cars because of the potential that a child may get ran over

So ... are they also blocking forums which hosts legit topics as well as including downloadable porn on file hosters?

If not everyone should be ok.

Who pays for porn anyway?

That's one of the many problems with it:

But his proposals were criticised by anti-censorship groups, who warned that sites about sexual health and sexuality could inadvertently get caught up in the ban. Significantly, Mr Cameron admitted there would be ?problems down the line? with the system ? and appeared to rule out ?soft? or written pornography from the scheme entirely.
