It's a Boy, for Prince William & Duchhess Kate

Recommended Posts

Prince William and Kate Middleton became parents of an 8 lb. 6 ounce baby boy late Monday afternoon.

Both mother and child were reported doing well and will remain in the hospital overnight.

Prince William was present for the birth at 4:24 p.m., according to a press release from the royal household.

The release also said the name of the baby, the couple?s first, would be announced ?in due course.?

The baby will be third in line to the throne after his grandfather, Prince Charles, and his father.

Crowds massed outside Buckingham Palace where a formal announcement of the baby?s birth was posted to cheers Monday night.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at St. Mary?s Hospital ? where William and his brother Harry also were born ? early Monday morning.

It was not immediately clear how long labor lasted or whether the child was delivered by natural birth or caesarian section.

Representatives of the world's press had been gathered for days outside of St. Mary's Hospital. The Duchess' exact due date had been a closely guarded secret, but the general sense was that the royal baby's arrival was overdue by at least one or two days.

Despite a rough start to the pregnancy, when she was hospitalized for acute morning sickness, the 31-year-old Kate made a number of public appearances that were halted only near the end of her term.

I wonder how much longer we will pay for these people to live, the Royal Family are just rich useless retards. Could you imagine if we stopped paying them and used the money to, well, I don't know, help people who actually require money? I don't care about this flipping baby, I don't like a Baby that was just born and likely has gifts more expensive than my car. This baby can go F itself.

Really, give life to lunatics, rapists and murderers so they can carry on draining resources, but 'I wonder how much longer we will pay for these people to live' for the Royal Family?

Does Australia actually give money to England or is it like Canada where our taxes only pay for their stay in Canada and when she's acting on our behalf?

It's pretty much the same as Canada. The only country that really pays her is England.

Nah, I meant people who require and deserve money.

It doesn't cost that much and provides a lot of 'free' entertainment to the masses. Royalty isn't a bad thing.

Having a president or a similar system would cost just as much. They've done the calculations for Belgium recently (since our old king stepped down for his son) and turns out a monarchy is less costly than a republic. And more fun. The atmosphere on the national holiday at the Royal Palace was great.

Just because you don't agree doesn't mean the majority does. There are other ways for the government to save money that would be a lot more effective. (Like not bothering with a porn filter.)

Exactly.

And I really can't see the Queen ever stepping down :P She'll go on 'till she's 120.

I do love me some Queen's Birthday.

I'm far from a royalist, but I detect the stench of another reason for the spite-filled garbage you've vomitted up.

It's fueled by frustration, your detector is broken. I vomited it up because it tasted like spite-filled garbage.

Members of the Royal Family are anything but retards - in fact they are probably some of the most intelligent people in society, having had access to some of the best educational facilities in the world. As for being "useless", the Royal Family has raised countless millions for charities, helping some of the most vulnerable people in society - much more than the average family has done. And in terms of the cost, many economists have concluded that the Royal Family generates more than it costs and that's without even factoring in the cultural value.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike the monarchy but you haven't listed any of them. If you want to debate the merits of the Royal Family maturely then I'm sure you'll find an audience but don't expect to be taken seriously if you continue to rely on infantile insults. You come across as envious of their wealth and influence.

Well, good thing it's a human boy and not a chimpanzee boy or even lettuce. Smart folks say much of our DNA is common with those things and these days anything can happen.

People get born all the time. In fact, to my knowledge, 100% of people to this day have appeared on this world exactly this way.

But - hell - even Obama doesn't get so much spotlight for where he's at and all the crap he does. Historical monarchies without absolute power are but a big circus that should have been closed down long ago. Then again, people still go to circus.

I did go into that a little loaded didn't I? Probably best if I stopped discussing it all together.

So the second post in this thread, the first reply - is the least informed thing I have read in a long time.  I could join in the conversation to a decent level, but really cannot be bothered to post any further than this:

You seriously have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.  The income that the Royal Estate generates eclipses the cost of maintaining it.

What revenue have they generated for Australia or Canada? Have they? I recall them costing money every time they come to visit, and not a little bit either. Do you think their existence only influences England?

I'm not even including the 'gifts' we continually purchase for them.

The fact you ask the question shows how uninformed you are.  The Royal Estate has interests across the globe that feed back heavily towards the native economy.

If you have so little knowledge on this subject, why did you so vociferously state an uninformed opinion?

Thank goodness, can we stop talking about it now? I probably hear about it 4 times a day, 5 minutes a piece on the news... times that per week for the past two weeks.. that's 4 and a half hours of royal baby talk. That's like a half day meeting at work... nobody wants to be in a half day meeting at work.
