OSShutDown
Hello,I recently bought a new computer, but I'm having a problem with it. When I run a certain program (MMORPG game) my computer will shut down randomly. I tried looking for a pattern, but it seems it can shut down at any given moment. I've taken a look at the Event Viewer and encountered the same number of events that occur prior to those random shutdowns. These are the events that happen in the following order:1. Event 109 - The kernel power manager has initiated a shutdown transition.2. Event 1074 - The process C:\Windows\system32\winlogon.exe (ADMIN) has initiated the power off of computer ADMIN on behalf of user ADMIN\Admin for the following reason: No title for this reason could be foundReason Code: 0x500ffShutdown Type: power off3. Event 51047 - DHCPv6 client service is stopped. ShutDown Flag value is 14. Event 50037 - DHCPv4 client service is stopped. ShutDown Flag value is 1Like I said, this only happens when I'm running a certain game. I would really like to know what is causing these shut downs, and more importantly how to fix them.If any further information is needed, please say so, and I'll do my best to provide it.Thank you for your time, I'll appreciate your input. redvamp128
You should really post computer SPECS -- MObo- Memory - Video Card - )make and model# if you need people to help you. 0x500ff Is a generic false shutdown- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2001061 Even though this is for 7, and Server - the same error code should also appear in 8 (I have not looked for tha specific error in 8 KB's) Event 0x000500FF (System Failure) is written to the SEL (System Event Log) even if a different shutdown reason was provided by the user who initiated the shutdown. Some other things to note- I won't have time to look at them until tomorrow- Is it overclocked? Is there any memory timings that may need to be reset- Have you looked for possibly a patch or update to fix that issue for the game- Which game is it? Video Drivers could cause that issue.... Too much power drain- bad PSP- bad memory- But we need to know these kinds of things....before diagnosing can begin. thanks,

Specs: OS: Windows 8 Pro Processor: Intel ® Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHZ RAM: 4.00GB System Type: 64-bit OS, x64-based processor Motherboard: MSI MS-7788 Video Card: NVIDIA, GeForce GT 630 I'll have to check on that overclock and memory timings. Not really sure about those. The game is MapleStory. It's patched to the latest version. Thanks again for your time.
OSShutDown
As for overclocking and memory timings, the answer is no.
farmeunit
Power Supply specs might be helpful as well. Brand? If you had an extra PSU, that an easy thing to check. I've seen bad PSUs cause all kinds of odd issues. Have you tried going back to earlier version of video card drivers?

PSU = INWIN 450W I don't think it's the PSU, as these shut downs occur only when I play that certain game. I can run every other game without my computer crashing. As for the video card drivers, I'll give it a shot.
OSShutDown
Can anyone think about another reason causing this issue?

TyRidian
What version number is your NVIDIA drivers (Graphics Card )? I ask, because recent NVIDIA drivers have been reported to crash games, as well as the whole system.
