neohelp
Is there something that iOS can do that Android can't? Due to Android's vast open source base, if Android can do something that iOS does natively with a third party app, it counts :) Also, visaversa, something Android can do that iOS cannot (ringtones cannot be done natively but can with iTunes and Jailbreaking) Thank you
Kriz
Jailbreaking is not necessary to add ringtones to an iphone
neohelp
Jailbreaking is not necessary to add ringtones to an iphoneSee? Thats why I do not want to be misinformed :) BTW, the only way I know how to do it, is using iTunes (or something similar) and you need Win/OSX/Lin for that. By itself, iOS cannot add custom free ringtones to itself so you can use it. The reason I made this thread is not to be misinformed :)
Packet1009
just to qualify what you said: from the apple site: You can use your iPhone to buy and download 256 kbps ringtones from the iTunes Store. An iTunes Store account and a 3G or Wi-Fi connection are required.
The Evil Overlord
I'm pretty sure they both can or able to do the same thing, they just go about doing it in different ways, my wife has an iphone and most personalisation has to go through itunes, but not all, I wasn't interested, so wasn't really paying attention, android personalisation can be done on the device itself, which was a +1 for my as I have been called, (and rightly so) a symbian fanboy Obi-Wan Kenobi 1 Share
CPressland
Pretty much both platforms are more or less the same. MDM in iOS is far superior to Android; but thats not going to change anything in your decision as you're not an Enterprise. I think it comes down to what you prefer rather than Feature Sets. iOS is easier to use and generally a cleaner experience, Android is generally a more technically involved and customisable experience. Both have Pros and Cons.
Rippleman
I have and use both. They are both equal in terms of ability. +Xinok Subscriber² Posted July 27, 2013 Subscriber² Share Posted July 27, 2013 iOS is only available on Apple devices. Android is available on a multitude of devices from a variety of manufacturers. I originally owned an LG Gx2 and now own a Galaxy S3; I chose both for the removable battery and MicroSD card slot. Of course, this means the capabilities of Android varies by device. I won't go into the capabilities that require rooting, but I'll note that Google condones rooting devices to the point that apps can now show a "Superuser" permission in the Play Store. McKay
Uh, please share the magic beans around. One thing android can do that iPhone can't? Get all fragmented ;) Yet Android has segregated its key apps from the OS, so earlier versions of Android can have the latest Maps, the latest browser, the latest core apps. iOS fans get all hyped up over a number, sure your iPhone may show the latest number in "iOS version Number". But it's a stripped down version, with features lacking. When an Android handset gets an Android update, it gets all the features. best analogy i can think of... andriod would be linux and IOS would be windows... everything is just easier on windows, but being easier doesn't always mean better... just different I'd compare Android to Windows, and iOS to OS X. Modern version users who want the benefits, or old version users. The fragmentation is a bitch. That said, I blame carriers more than anyone for this. Sikh
I'm glad someone finally made a thread like this. The nexus 4 was my first true android daily driver. Since having it for almost a year the 2 things I absolutely miss is Undo and Tap to Top scrolling. The accelarated scrolling in chrome sucks and the rendering during the scrolling lags and slows it down. I've witnessed this on a nexus 4, gs4, HTC one, etc. It's the OS and not the power of the device. Besides this I've so far liked my experience. I will say I will love iOS for being simple easy fast. Being in IT, the last thing I want to do is fix/fight with my own devices. But that's another reason I like my nexus. Once I got my ROM perfect and no random issues, I was happy. TL;DR: Android doesn't have undo or tap to top scrolling(in any app).

Kriz
Android definately runs a lot smoother from personal use, just so used to the ios setup! But yeah its not as simple as just adding a custom ringtone there is a bit of playing about to do.
tanjiajun_34
I am just saying what I know of.... Android Able to customise more Switch keyboard Switch launcher/home screen Switch lockscreen Widgets on home screens Live wallpaper (But iOS 7 have something like that) Transferring files via bluetooth / WiFi direct No need iTunes Apple Smoother UI (Except iOS 7 seem to lag a bit on my ip5) Better text selection(I like the magnifying glass) More completed emoji set Way better emoji keyboard Widgets on notification bar
articuno1au
tl;dr - iOS can cause a 20% mark up on all peripherals :D On a more serious note, be supported by everything. Literally every device has iPhone support.
