24" BenQ 120MHz monitor, WOW, WOW...

I recently ditched AMD and moved back to NVidia and bought an EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC ACX 2Gb. And what an amazing card, it then dawned on me that I should get a better monitor. Well it arrived Saturday morning and I was too busy to set up the monitor. I checked it over and with my high powered magnifying glass. I checked fir dead pixels. Clean as a whistle and not a dead pixel in sight. I just tested Metro Last Light and my jaw dropped... WOW, WOW amazing... no sharp edges, clear smooth graphics are just amazing. What I don't understand is people who say with a stern face "there isn't any difference between 60MHz and 120MHz". Well my answer to that answer is plain and simple.

1. You've got a sh** GFX card.

2. Your eyesight is rubbish.

3. Highly recommend you get an eye test.

The difference is phenomenal, the monitor is also compatible with NVidia 3D and the monitor comes with 3D glasses. I need to try a game in 3D.

Changing from 60MHZ to 120MHz does make a difference. Believe me it does, the clear graphics are amazing. I'd never go back to 60MHz again, and my old monitor wasn't cheap either. Served me well over the last 3 years. But 120MHz beats it to ground on quality.

I've been thinking over a 120Hz screen myself, but there isn't a "lot" of choice yet... Seeing the difference on TV alone convinced me it's worth getting though!

Yeah I know... but just in case. I always check for dead pixels. I've been stung so many times with dead pixels its become a customary traditional. I would highly recommend upgrading to 120MHz.

?399.99 very expensive, But... it is worth every single penny. I'd place this in the top 5 as one of the best. It takes a while for your brain and eye to adjust to the sharpness of the monitor but after a few tweaks it is crystal clear. Not sure about the florescent Red and black. Reminds me of the Batcar. You get used to the colours after a while.

For me the bezel mustn't distract from the screen, that's why mine has a bezel of just over 1cm to the sides and top, and less than 2cm at the bottom. The only thing I don't like about my two LG 23" flatrons is that the black plastic foot and bezel is glossy, won't make that mistake next time when I upgrade :P

Well honestly. since you just bought the monitor and you expect there to be a difference, you will see a difference. it's just how we work. The question is if you would see a difference in a proper blind test. 

 

I'd rather use my graphics card to push graphics than frames though. on the settings I use, there's very few games that would be able to even hit 60 with the 770.

I was playing Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 and I couldn't believe the difference from my other monitor. I only started this game on Friday and just started Act II. Coupled with the 770 its breathtaking.

I'm in the same boat - I just got an Asus VG248QE (24" @ 1920x1080 - 144Hz). Amazing monitor and you can clearly tell the difference. I just need to get a better graphics card - I'm also thinking GTX 770, but I may just wait for the GTX 8 series. 

 

Have you tried any of the Lightboost tricks? Also, it's Hz not MHz :)

I need to overclock me eyes... had BenQ XL2410T with a stuck pixel for one whole week at work, tried couple of games with 680 pumping frames into it and couldn't see sh*t :(
