The "X-Files" producer will oversee a retooled second season of the Chris Vance-starring action drama for M6 in France and HBO Canada.

TORONTO ? The X-Files executive producer Frank Spotnitz has come on board as the new showrunner for a planned second season of the Transporter TV series.

Despite Cinemax parting ways with the Chris Vance-starring action drama, a second cycle is in development with M6 in France and HBO Canada, according to executive producer Fred Fuchs.

The producers are talking to alternative U.S. partners to replace Cinemax, which last week signaled its departure at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The first season of the TV drama based on the Luc Besson film franchise performed well in France and Canada and for some Fox International territories.

Vance is still attached to the TV series, though his option period has expired and a second-season gig would require a new deal.

The first season, which faced production delays and showrunner changes, saw Vance play Frank Martin, an ex-elite commando turned transporter who delivers mysterious packages against all odds for a series of shady and dangerous clients.

Production on the series from local producer QVF and Gallic partner Atlantique Productions took place in Toronto and France.

Are they going to show this season's episodes in order or are they going **** that up like Season 1?

Hopefully the new show runner will change this, the budget for the first season was insane
