MorganX
For anyone sitting on the fence about getting a PS3 and those who can't stand the small hand friendly PS3 controller I highly recommend the Cronus Cross Gaming adapter and a Microsoft Wireless Controller For Windows. The controller has 0 lag and all buttons are pre-mapped perfectly, even rumble works. It's a whole different experience, I'll keep this thing forever just for Wipeout HD. A refurb Slim 160GB (latest revision, but not the ugly super slim) is $199 at the Playstation Store and like brand spanking new with full warranty. The Cronus Adapter WILL set you back about $60 and Xbox Wireless Controller for Windows (that comes with the wireless receiver you need) another $40 or so, but it's worth it. The latest revision of the Slim is a nice piece of work. Cronus Adapter: http://www.amazon.com/Cross-over-Xbox-360-Playstation-3-Windows/dp/B008US4PBY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1374271978&sr=8-1&keywords=cronus By direct and they'll sell you a receiver for about $14 if you already have a wireless controller. The PS Store has come a long way since I sold my last PS3. Edit: Sony Store sold out right now.
ScorpioRGc1
God no; the Dualshock 3 is a lot better controller than the 360's IMO; I've always hated how the 360's controller feels and handles. +E.Worm Jimmy 1 Share

"those who can't stand the small hand friendly PS3 controller" - :D Trust me, there are many people with big hands in the same boat as me above. Plus it's a matter of opinion. To me, aside from the D-pad which I never use, the Dualshock is nowhere near the 360 Controller. Hahaha, that's why both platforms sell pretty well. But there is no equivalent to Wipeout HD on the Xbox platform and it's soooo much better for me with the 360 Controller. Beefier rumble too (Enslaved). I'll ditch my 360 and probably get a XBOne but I'm keeping the PS3 for Blu-ray, Wipeout, Heavenly Sword (I love this game), and future cross-plats. Unfortunately Enslaved uses UE3 and is better on 360 but I'm still gonna play through it again on PS3. BTW, Shout out to N. Carolina. Birthplace Camp Lajeune! Oh, the God no was purely for me; its just not something I use. I don't have small hands at all either, but just detest the feel and layout of the 360's controller. If this thing gets more people laying PS3, then great. :) Its just not for me. +E.Worm Jimmy 1 Share

The Cronus is expensive at $55 but if that's what's holding a person back ... it also allows PS3 Controller to be used with Xbox and PC as well. Aergan
My only complaint about the DS3 is the L2 & R2 triggers being not actual triggers and sliding around them with my fingers (an ongoing bugbear back to the first PSX control pad). Rumble strength however, you know about it. Triggers definitely better on the Xbox 360 pad but the weight, weak rumble, battery life (official Ni-MH packs with LTD Edition Transform) and monstrosity of a D-Pad put me off. I do have small hands though.
Xerino
but what about SIXAXIS support??? $100+ just to use a 360 controller on the PS3 isnt really worth it
James123
Shame it's not a little cheaper, after using a 360 controller I hate the PS3 controller, but I can't justify spending the ?55 (~$85) it costs in the UK for the few PS3 exclusives I play. Looks like a good little device though.
ShadowMajestic
I love the PS controller for most games. beat em ups or racing. But I strongly prefer the 360 controller for FPS games and such.... I'm much better at BF3 on the 360 then I am with BF3 on the PS3, while I've used the PS controller for many years and the 360 controller just a few months in total. +E.Worm Jimmy Subscriber¹ Posted August 7, 2013 Subscriber¹ Share Posted August 7, 2013 I loathe xbox 360 controller. i love PS3 controller. i had xbox360 originally for over a year, before i sold it and got a ps3. main reason was the controller. i knew a person in MS that could get me a supply of games for free, and still i got rid of xbox and got a PS3.ps. i have very large hands!!! it is the overall feel of the controller that bugs me immensly. pps. i will have to do the test again in the next console round. both controllers have improved a lot! and exclusive game wise, i love me some killer instinct, otherwise both look good! Astra.Xtreme
I personally think the PS3 controller is extremely uncomfortable and just awful. The left thumbstick is in the wrong spot, and I can't stand using that thing for more than 30 minutes. I wish I would have heard about this thing earlier, but with the next gens right around the corner, I don't think I'd spend my money on it. MorganX
but what about SIXAXIS support??? $100+ just to use a 360 controller on the PS3 isnt really worth it Sixaxis, the one game it made sense in, Heavenly Sword, I thought it sucked and used the d-pad. I had to have an Xbox Wireless controller for the PC anyway, so ... but yeah, it's not cheap. It was worth it for me because, "for me", the PS3 controller is so bad it makes the PS3 not worth it. Btw, it allows you to use a cheaper wired controller as well. I'm just over wires.

ahhell
Sixaxis support really isn't a big lose. It always felt awkward anyway. Trying to hold the controller perfectly horizontal is completely unnatural. I just wish the price of the adapter was a bit cheaper.
ShadowMajestic
wait... you prefer the PS3 controller for racing games, over the 360 ? .... of all the gametypes to prefer the PS3 controller for, that is the most baffling. Well I've played GT/NFS and all on the PSX/PS2 and PS3 :p I prefer them side by side for steering/throttle, the deadzone of the 360 controller is way to narrow for my taste in racing. But way to wide in the PS controller for shooters. and before that, the sega and Nintendo didn't do analogue sticks. Sixaxis support really isn't a big lose. It always felt awkward anyway. Trying to hold the controller perfectly horizontal is completely unnatural. I just wish the price of the adapter was a bit cheaper. Most games that support SIXAXIS on PS3/Vita so far seem to take your default controller position as 'horizontal' from the games I've used it in. Can be a fun addition, forgot name but in early PS3 days there was this tiny spacey shooter on a planetlike ball with rocks and comets to shoot into bits that used the sixaxis for special weapons and such, quite fun as you had your fingers occupied enough and shaking the controller is easier than pressing X with both thumbs on the sticks :)
red.
For something like the Last of Us, you need sixaxis to charge the torch. Can this setting be turned off? Otherwise you could end up having to play the game in the dark if you're using this.

I have tiny hands and the 360 is still definitely the controller to use, even though my childhood has been spent with a dualshock. Lack of innovation over the years really shows. The 360 controller is just more ergonomic. MorganX 1 Share

Sixaxis is basically dead and useless. You have to provide an alternative. Anyway, I've read if you save and reload it will be fully charged, lol. I haven't bought it yet, but I planned on it. I might give it a pass or wait to find it used on eBay.
Brandon H Supervisor Posted August 8, 2013 Supervisor Share Posted August 8, 2013 personally if I was going to do anything with the PS3 as far as not using the ds3, then I'd use this http://store.xim3.com/XIM-EDGE_p_12.html so I could use a keyboard and mouse

It does a lot for $55, but that's still a lot. Plus you can download map your own settings/Macros if you're into that. Basically let's you use DS3/XB Wired & Wireless/Keyboard and Mouse with PC/Xbox/and or PS3.
AJerman
I wonder if they'll come up with something like this for the PS4 as well. Granted we haven't played with the new controller, and it does look a lot better than previous, but the 360 controller is pretty widely considered one of the best game console controllers ever. Playstation controls have always been a bit awkward to me. I guess I'll see how quickly I can adapt to the DS4. Keyboard and mouse connectivity would be awesome for FPS style games too.
