McCordRm
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4nswWwgLEw Sounds interesting. I don't know that it will take me away from SWTOR, but I'll probably try it out.

PGHammer
Another MMO promising the world, this'll end well. Except for several things, you would have a point: 1. It's free to play from the get-go - following in the established footsteps of both current EQ games, which are F2P today. 2. It's multiplatform - while the beta is Windows-only, that is entirely due to the PS4 being Christmas-holiday-targeted release, most likely. (Remember, EQN/EQN Landmark are also PS4 launch titles.) 3. EQN Landmark is more like an enhanced Minecraft than anything else - Landmark's advantage is that structures built in Landmark can fully cross over to EQN. (It's the closest we have seen to an MMO - especially an F2P MMO - releasing the dev tools alongside the game - which nobody has done.) 4. It looks like a fusion between EQ II, Planetside 2, and Minecraft - I'm definitely going to be following this. (I play both EQ II and Planetside 2, but I have not tried Minecraft.) McCordRm
I'll give it a go. I played EQ for a LONG time, but hated EQ2. Who knows...

Caleo Global Moderator Posted August 14, 2013 Global Moderator Share Posted August 14, 2013 Looks pretty good. I'm more anxious about Landmark than Everquest Next itself. If landmark is basically a triple-A minecraft evolution MMO (like survival mode minecraft), I'll be more than willing to spend countless hours just building stuff. Looks like they're borrowing from Second Life too where you can sell stuff you've designed for real money. I'm anxious, but I'm trying not to hype/anticipate it too much; that usually leads to disappointment.
McCordRm
I have absolutely no desire to "make stuff"... I'm just not artistically inclined that way. But I am interested in Landmark. If we look at game releases over the years, MANY times we've touted player-made content (MODS) over what the original designers created. That has me excited. Depending on how good the mechanics are of the world, It would be interesting to see players create dungeons based on old Dungeons and Dragons modules, for example. Or creating buildings from novels- like castles from Game of Thrones, etc.
UseLess
While they do have some nifty new ideas, I find MMORPGs are getting a bit tired for me...Neverwinter had some new ideas too, but I just couldn't get into it =/
HawkMan
Too bad they stripped away everything EQ about it and changed the graphics to look more like WoW, they even changed the races, the cat people now look completely different, like a fricken disney race. and the game is now more of an action game., with platform jumping and double jumps... it might be interesting, but it's not EQ in any way...I'll give it a try, but I don't have high hopes. sure the new graphics age a lot more gracefully than the more realistic style of EQ2, but it still just look like a different version of WoW. especially how they copied the massively stupid shoulder pieces. But I still remember running and riding through lush fields and forests in EQ2, even though they don't look nearly as good as my memory when I load it up now :p And they probably killed the what still is the best crafting system of any MMO ever, simply because it required the crafter to do something and not just click "make this".
