Which GTX 780?

Recommended Posts

Im so confused on exactly what all the terms mean, to me some of them are marketing grabbers..

Others I noticed the obvious higher clock speeds and backplates..

Im interested in the ACX cooler edition ones to try that out, but what is really worth it?

Is a classified an overclock and voltage adjustment?

Curious as they are all 10-40 bucks apart..

Ahh just noticed also more fans on some...

Looks like you are looking at the EVGA cards.  They are very good, I have the EVGA 780SC, which is a reference 780 with the standard cooler and a factory overclock.

The ACX is a factory overclocked 780 with EVGA's custom cooler, it's supposed to run the card 10c cooler (something along those lines) allowing for higher overclocks if you are so inclined.  Although with the ACX design you are dumping hot air back in to the case.  With the standard cooler, it dumps it out the rear.

The Classified card is for the extreme overclocker, it has higher default core speed.  I think it's also compatible with the EVBot which allows tweaking of a number of aspects on the card; http://www.evga.com/articles/00521/

Depending on how you are set you could by the EVGA reference card and then overclock it to SC speeds through their Precision X software and save a few ?/$.

Another vote for EVGA. I also have the 780SC as I like the exhaust fan design. Usually reference coolers are weaker then custom coolers but the reference 780 cooler is the same as the Titan and it has some pretty good tech around it.

That said the ACX still looks very good, it'll just dump a lot more heat into your case that you'll need to exhaust with case fans.

Oh I guess I forgot to mention in my OP that my only preference is EVGA, my GTX 680 is awesome

Great card so close to the Titan's in benchmarks.  I'm sure you will be very happy with it, with my SC I can play Crysis 3 at 1920x1080 Very High Details and 2x SMAA and still get a solid 60FPS in most area's.  Crysis 3 definitely feels a lot smoother on my 780 than the 670.

I still prefer the look of the 780 reference cooler over the ACX though :woot:
