Automatic Update Experience on Windows 8.1 vs. Older Windows

Recommended Posts

Since Installing Windows 8.1 also known as Windows Blue, I fund out that for the first time, Microsoft Automatic Updates actually works. Example: even when windows store apps and Windows Update on Windows 8 is set to Automatic Update, you still have to check for update yourself and update it most of the times and have gotten used to this from Windows XP experience. But on Windows 8.1 i only knew about new updates to windows store apps and Windows 8.1 from Forums and Tech Websites like Neowin. This is rather very strange to me because after reading about this updates i found out that it's been already installed and sometimes waiting for me to restart.

I really finds it uncomfortable because i'm used to seeing the updates and installing it myself after i've turn on the automatic updates. This might not be relevant to all Neowin users, but won't hurt to share my personal experience

Outside of WinStore apps, Windows Update seems to work for me on Win8 just like it did on WinVI and Win7: every once in a while, I'll get prompted to restart and install updates.

I find 8.1, being a beta, seems to be restarting much more often than usual, though.

Strange, I've never had to restart the PC except for updates and that is normal?

Windows uodate on win 8.1 is broken like it is on 8.0

On win7 Change to check for updates ut not to auto install the updates.  It will immediatly carry out a check and at intervals do automated checks.

Do the same on win 8 or win 8.1 and it sits there no checks.
