I'm supposed to go to Florida next spring. I'll stay at my uncle's house for one week. Should i ask for a geological testing just to be safe ?

Yes

I doubt you really have anything to worry about. It's only isolated incidents at this time. But I would be a bit more concerned if I had family there.

My dad grew up in Peckville/Scranton, PA.  He said when he was a kid the coal mines reached under the city and at one point a mine collapsed, taking an entire school yard with it.  (No one was in the school yard when it happened).  Florida is a completely different beast, of course.
