Microsoft announced yesterday that the Xbox One would be launching in November in 13 markets rather than the earlier stated 21, with most countries in Europe such as Sweden, Belgium and Denmark among others and Russia receiving it in early 2014.

Consumers of the respective countries aren’t the only ones annoyed about it. Battlefield 4 developer DICE is based in Sweden, for instance, and lead core gameplay design director Alan Kertz took to Twitter to voice his disapproval.

I see Microsoft seems intent on making it easier and easier to pick #PS4 for Gen4 in Sweden.

As for claims of “localizing” the console for local languages, Kertz stated that:

@Demize99 I just love the excuse too. "We need time to translate it and get local apps made"........wow

@JoshuaGWilson_ Being an expat in Sweden. EVERYONE SPEAKS ENGLISH HERE. And the locals HATE the Swedish translations.

He wasn’t alone, as lead gameplay designer Gustav Halling stated that Sweden always bought what was hot and now, that will be the PlayStation 4.

Not sure what @Xbox is thinking when not launching in a progressive country like Sweden, we always buy what is hot and that will be PS4..

— Gustav Halling (@gustavhalling) August 15, 2013

Halling also stated that though he will be getting a console, he may be one of the few after the delay.

@Death2Rum @Xbox I'm still getting a XboxOne but I'm one of the few after this. Might buy a ps4 also, we will see.

One has to pity Microsoft at this point: After announcing the Xbox One, the company was skewered for what were viewed as draconian DRM policies and lack of enthusiasm in indie developers. Microsoft has been back-tracking on every single one of its policies since then, including Kinect no longer being mandatory for playing on the console. How badly will this affect the console’s standing in Europe and Russia? We’ll find out in the coming months.

Another negative thread from you trying to cause war.

A couple of people making remarks on twitter is not news. I agree with the chaps though.

Devs from a high-profile developer making a hugely anticipated multiplatform, launch-day title publicly lambasting Microsoft isn't news worthy? It sounds like it to me. At the very least, it's discussion worthy. And you're mad at Audioboxer for posting it because it's negative? Should we only post positive things (about anything) on this forum?

No it isn't. Its 250 character ranting from people who are complaining about it not launching in their region on Day 1. Similar to what we do on here, do we have news articles? Just because you're a pawn in a massive picture doesn't mean the pawns represent the views of their employer.

I'm referring to the fact the starts a lot of posts where they're negative in the MS forum and only positive in the Sony one.

Stop being pedantic.

No, this guy (JohnnyLH) is I think a "microsoft-defender". In a LOT of threads about the xbox, xbox360, xbox one or anything that has to do with Microsoft, you see him defending them.

You should look it up,you'll see what I mean :).

Back on topic, I can understand the views of the BF4 Developers, the delay of the X1 in some (more civilized) countries could potentially be a blow to the growth of the X1 and so on...

Really? I don't think it's trying to cause a war.. and while not news worthy, it shows that people do care.. and that changes do affect people.  I am sure it would be the same if sony said: "NOPE"" to releasing in all the countries they are.

Another thought process what annoys me. Obviously since I'm defending a company which is publicly hated for no reason makes me love them.

I've owned every generation of console to date, have an iPhone an old Android phone and a 920.

I'll also be buying the PS4 because I love a lot of their 1st parties.

Yet, I'm still a fanboy.

Its not news worthy. All we get out of this is that some people aren't annoyed its not releasing Day 1 in Sweden. Holy cow, big news what we found out the other day.

We don't really know what the overall delay will be, what if it's just January for some?  2014 isn't that far away you know.  And they didn't say late or early or anything, just "2014".  Besides, most of the games I'm looking forward to playing are in 2014, for both systems.  I've been saying from the start that i'm in no rush to buy either till next year, quite a few games still coming to the 360 that can hold me over, like the new splinter cell that I can't play till sometime next month due to being so busy at work.   The new Batman AO game is another, and so on.

Waiting 2-4 more months will pass by quick for me, I've got games to play and my 360 isn't worthless just because the new gen systems are out.

My 360 will (knock on wood) be chugging along just fine till next Christmas where i'll then decide which system to buy.

Till then I have all these new (old) games to play since I never got a chance to when they came out (free games for Xbox Live Gold thing).

I have Battlefield 3 also and never got around to play it so I can dive into that before jumping on BF4 as well.

Sux for those though that wanted to get it ASAP and now have to wait, maybe Microsoft's flub will be Sony's blessing in those countries.

Another negative thread from you trying to cause war.

Nonsense. News shouldn't be censored simply because some people will respond badly to it. Those who turn it into a "war" are the ones responsible, not those reporting it.

It certainly is news when they're the developers of one of the top next-gen titles.

If the news was surrounding the game they are making then yes, if its about anything else, its just some other Joe Bloggs complaining about something which they're effected by.

Did we not know it was being delayed in Sweden, was it missed in the PR release from yesterday? No it wasn't, so it isn't news.

The article was posted to give a negative spin like all the other X1 articles he's posted, probably bar one.
