Does it allow separate profiles? Do we have to log out of the App Store, to use YouTube for my wife , myself we both have different channels we subscribe to, for instance.
I'm not aware of it utilizing any Youtube profile. But, I've only used youtube once, to view full episodes of 'The First 48'.
I have four of these; living room, master bedroom, theater room and daughter's room. All connected to a Win7 running itunes library share with 2tb of flicks, 500gb of music. Pause on any unit, continue on another. Push anything from mac/i-pad/i-pod to device. The streaming, even from wifi, is extremely smooth. However, I recommend cabling it.
Netflix, vudu, hbo on the go, and hulu are supported, but Amazon prime is not. Music side, there are a lot of internet radio stations as well.
Bluetooth keyboards can also connect.
I've sold all but one of my blu-ray players. One is connected to the Win7 box in the event I encounter any flick I cannot rip. I can just record the output to the tv capture card.

Yes Apple TV have profile switch... which you have your own login and your wife just like you have multi login on your Windows.
Go to iTunes section on your Apple TV settings. You will add another user such as wife, kids, etc. to it.
