Separate Lock Screen and Home Screen Wallpapers

Recommended Posts

Hi  -

Maybe I am losing the plot here, it's quite possible.

On the iPhone it is possible to set separate lock screen and home screen wallpapers.  This is good because I can use a bright picture for the lock screen and a more subtle wallpaper for my home screen.

Is this possible on stock Jellybean on a Nexus 4?

Thanks

As Kudo mentioned i dont believe stock Android can do that.

CyanogenMod would work great on your Nexus 4, that would allow you to do what you desire.

If you dont want to flash a custom rom i believe some launchers replace the default lock screen and would allow you to do that.

I'm not sure, go into settings>>display>>wallpaper

if it can be changed it'll be there

but that direction was from an sgs3, so I cannot say if it'll be the same option in the Nexus.

Mine can... I use different wallpaper on homescreen and lockscreen..  not the same wallpaper on both unless I choose to.

Some devices have this feature. Others do not have this feature.

If your device does not have this feature, then you will need either ROM or launcher for that feature.

I'll also add that I'm using nova launcher add well. Not sure if that is the reason I can set the wallpapers...

Thanks for the responses.

can't root my phone (and therefore no custom ROMs) as one of my most important apps won't work on a rooted phone.

I hope that Google put this in a future version of stock Android.

Since you can't root, then you can get the following items from the store:

Launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex

Locker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jiubang.goscreenlock

That will allow you change a different wallpaper on those screens. I mean you can put a wallpaper on launcher, and put a different wallpaper on the lock screen.

No root required.

this is one of the things that made my head hurt as to why this isnt a feature in stock android. fortunately HTC put this option in the settings for the One. But not having this as a stock option makes no sense to me.
