CRAZY! Weekly Image Challenge

Recommended Posts

Sorry added the Crazy to get some attention to the topic ;)

Have to admit it has been a good start having the Neowin Photography contest!

If you haven't entered, have a look now.

I would like to know if people are interested in coming up with ideas to challenge people to take better photographs....

Had a fun shoot this weekend with a friend: http://www.creatographylabs.com/10-minute-kerk-straat-challenge/

How bout we have a random selection of people who take part on the forum....

So get 10 names, select them by random, and nominate a topic for the weekend's shoot.

So Monday Pic a Topic... post by the next Sunday evening latest, on the forum or your site... and the following Monday the next person gives us a topic.

The competition is  Great... but feels like it moves so slowly..

This is a much faster way for the Photographically inclined to challenge each other  or give tips on images....

What do you guys think?

Is because it moves to slowly maybe.... I shoot the one weekend, and want something new the next weekend :)

Also something simple could work...

Like... this weekend... a Sports/Cultural or Group even...

The next week... a treet in your town...

The next weekend...transport ( Trains, plains, automobiles? )

just saying Crazy, or hope, or that time of the month... HUH?

Keep it simple... and learn :)

Anyone interested, other then Mr Draconian Guppy

Take some pictures this weekend... of where you are :)

And share on Monday, and ask... how dit you get that blur, or how did you get that to focus, or WOW that is low light, how did it come out like that :)

I'm happy to look for more reasons to get my camera out! I haven't progressed much since I have gotten it (in my eyes) because I rarely look for reasons to use it. I don't think I have an eye for things to be producing images from those links but maybe this would help move things on.

I'm working pretty much all weekend so chances of me doing anything then are slim to none, I could try and capture some images from the work but I fear I would end up thinking too much about photo's and not enough about getting the work done!

That is so funny! I will try writing differently then. Is this a little better? Now all my words are just one long thingy, in stead of a lot of little ideas :) We can make it even more simple per week, and start with just the topic - my photos this week. I will comment, and ask everyone else to give constructive criticism. Growing is the point, hints, tips, ideas, topics, ways to broaden the way that us noob photographers can go from camera owners to camera owners with nice photos :) To everyone a good weekend!

Well.... week 1... and I had to go take a few photos at a public even. I only have 1 lens ( Canon 50mm f1.4) - on a Canon 7D... so great gear... but in a small hall it is very limited... Got a few nice shots outside though.

I shot full manual, so had to watch my exposure and light.

Any one else get a chance to go out and get your shutter snapping?

Above is the link to my images. It was a local "skout" group ( called Voortrekkers where I come from :) ) getting some cultural dancing lessons.

Let me know what you think, or if you want any hints, tips, or ideas.

Next week :) Go walk around a 2 KM radius of where you live, or you can keep it closer. And take some shots... make every day simple things, awesome  and share...

Nice images I like your style :D

Your next mission should you wish to take it Mr Phelps is to think old school and how the fixed lens limited what the operator could capture.

This is why, when I had a little dosh, I went for the 50mm... and stuck with a prime, rather than a Kit lens with a little range... Primes are the best lens, for quick focus, great aperture range, and that, in your face shots that 35mm or 50mm will give you.

You have to be there and people will know it :)

If you live in a busy city, than even a good angle on someone standing on the street, waiting for a bus... could be an awesome shot.

Cup of tea... simple.... or simply awesome ;)

2KM? I'm American...I don't understand!!!!!!!

In all seriousness.  From the pictures you took I assume you were from Europe, never would of imagined South Africa.  Goes to show how much us Americans know!

Jedi Pirate - Very cool images.... if you ever had the time, go to wordpress and start something small.

Always nice to have something you can point friends and family too, and facebook is a little over rated sometimes, and not as photography friendly as they should be.

Yip, Sunny South Africa. It's winter on our side of the globe though, so rain rain rain for the week, with some snow on Table mountain :) Exciting stuff.

2KM is 1.24 Miles for the folks form the USA :)

Arachnoid - I worked in Egham in Surry many many years ago... at the Runnymead hotel. Looks like you took some photos from around there? Would love to see close ups on those river boats. They 1.24 Miles from your house?

Awesome show everyone... looking forward to seeing more images

Doesn't look like anyone else did either...

<<SNIP>>

I may just look at that, I've used flickr for pointing friends and family mostly. As you say FB is not that user friendly and not everyone I know has an account.

I have got some new images that i'm happy to share :)

I was a little dissapointed with the footsteps in the sane image, I didn't realise I had left my lens set to Manual Focus so the focus point was not quite where I wanted it.

There were a few other images from that day on my Flickr but i don't want to link them all!
