If you want to prevent a food crisis, fix the distribution and profiteering issues. That's the ONLY thing stopping the food we produce from reaching -everyone-.  Quantity is not the problem.

 

I agree that distribution and profiteering is an issue, however is more local than you think.

 

Take Mexico, Belice and other parts of Suth America for example. We are living a crisis of unproductive soil. Importing meats and other necessities can be done, however the costs for such task are way beyond our means -not everyone live in a first world country-, the solution is alternative methods of protein growth, like this one.

 

About profiteering, that cant be fixed in a system that thrives from uncontrolled profit.

Taste and the social conception of what is attractively edible is a product of the local idiosyncrasies. If you admit that western societies are a product of capitalism then it's a logical metonymy.

 

No, because our food tastes developed LONG before capitalism did. You forget, I'm in the UK, European civilisation pre-dates American by a loooooong time, and our dietary preferences are just as ancient.

 

Our societies are not a product of capitalism; capitalism is a way of life we adopted.

Eh, I'd try it. I had crickets in Thailand. Spicy crickets. They were crunchy and tasted just like a crisp or any other little snack, if you don't think too hard about what it is you're fine. Just like eating any other animal really. If you don't like it after giving it a shot, fine, but being afraid to even taste it? Come on.

 

Can't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone! ;)

Haha, they are cleaned up just like any other meat or vegetable product. It's not dangerous, people just think it's 'icky'.
