Microsoft's list of Xbox One games expanded today with the reveal of several new titles at the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany. The biggest new title is Fable Legends, the next game in Microsoft's long running fantasy RPG series from developer Lionhead.
The Xbox Wire website has posted word that Fable Legends will be the first game in the series to support co-op multiplayer with up to four players. In addition, while you can play as a "Hero" character, Fable Legends will also offer players a way to control a full fledged evil villain character. Microsoft states:
Playing a Hero utilizes the classic “Fable” style of gameplay, but as a Villain, you’ll combine strategy and tactics to control an army of minions against the Heroes. Command your troops in real-time and carefully manage your minions’ unique abilities to ensure the forces of evil prevail.Villain players can also use an Xbox SmartGlass tablet or smartphone app to combat the Hero characters in the game. A specific release date for Fable Legends was not announced.
In addition, Microsoft confirmed that Electronic Arts would release the casual game Peggle 2 for the Xbox One as a launch title, and the Kinect exclusive fighting game Fighter Within from publisher Ubisoft will also be a launch title for the console. Mojang, the team behind the hit game Minecraft, will also bring one of its PC games, Cobalt, to both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 at some point. The game, developed by Oxeye Game Studio, was first released for the PC in 2011.
