Public school kids no longer forced to kneel before principal

Recommended Posts

Article I of the United States Constitution forbids any grant of nobility in the United States. Sadly, Dana Carter, the very important new principal of Calimesa Elementary School in Southern California?s Inland Empire, failed to get the memo about the 226-year-old document.

An already-changed policy instituted at Calimesa Elementary for the start of the school year had forced students to kneel down in front of Carter ? and potentially other administrators? before being sent to class, reports CBS Los Angeles.

School officials described the bizarre kneeling policy as a postive effort to protect students. During its brief life, the policy was most frequently implemented at the official beginning of each class day and right after recess.

Several parents didn?t love the procedure. A flyer opposing the policy circulated among offended moms and dads.

One parent, the mother of a seven-year-old girl at the school, spoke to CBS Los Angeles.

?She says that she has to drop down on one knee with her hands at her side, wait for the principal to come out, lift his arms and tell them to go to class,? the unidentified mother told the station.

?I feel that the principal wants to be like a king, and we don?t have kings in America,? she added.

Not long after CBS Los Angeles initially broke the story, Cali Binks, the local school district superintendent, announced that the controversial kneeling policy would be immediately eliminated.

The school district notified parents of the change by mass phone calls.

It is completely unclear what threatens the Calimesa Elementary campus to such an extent that the principal wanted to demand that students kneel before her before school and after recess.

Principal Carter has apparently deigned to schedule a meeting with parents to design future safety options for the school.

The girls could use it for practice!!

We should be able to downvote.

Especially since these are very young kids.

I'm curious what the school would have done if a kid refused to kneel......would they try to suspend them for "not following school policy" or something?

This whole thing sounds like a joke, knowing how I was when I was a kid I would have flat out refused to kneel to anyone, and if I ever have kids they will be brought up in a similar manner.

that is very creepy and strange that someone would implement a policy like that in an elementary school let alone that the school board would have let them do it.

We should be able to sense sarcasm/jokes.

Especially since this is the internet.

You must not be a father with a daughter.

Jokes are supposed to be funny.  Did you find it funny or sarcastic? Maybe you like those sort of things?

Should we also joke around about molesting young girls?

It's the Internet, we should be able to sense sarcasm/jokes.

We should be able to joke about anything, theres always gonna be someone that won't like it but thats no reason to stop.

I am sure the same reasoning is used with child pornography.

Someone won't like it, but that's no reason to stop.

I am a father and it is still funny. I don't have the issue you seem to be having which is being able to separate reality from this. Please, for the sake of everyone in this thread, quote in the article where it says a young girl was molested. I mean, it most be there since you claim we are joking about a real girl being molested right now. If you can't, it is because it is not there. Your logic about child porn doesn't even make sense. Joking about child porn harms noone. Real child porn does. Learn to separate reality from nonfiction. If you can't, you may want to get your head checked because I think you may have a condition. In case you are still confused, and so nobody else makes this mistake, nobody is endorsing, supporting, or in anyway suggesting REAL child molestation is funny in any way shape or form. Hence, we are no joking about REAL child molestation.

Nice attempt at putting words in my mouth.  I said should we joke about molestation as well (equally in poor taste as the original joke).  Did you read where I said this was about molestation?  No, no you didn't.

I don't care if people make jokes in poor taste, as long as they don't mind me telling them it was.

Which apparently you have an issue with.

I guess it is ok to post only when it is aligned with your opinion.

I read your whole post where you complained. I responded to that. Don't tell me what I did and didn't do. I even quoted it. Seriously, if you can't handle jokes, even those that you don't understand or agree with, don't log on to the internet. You won't like what you find.

Now take your senseless dribble to another thread as you are derailing this one with your crusading.

Take your own advice, bud.

I said it was in poor taste.  Got a problem with it?

/me hands you a tissue.

Don't understand your tissue comment.. you really are degrading in your line of thought. Yep, confirmed for the ignore list.

FYI I already took my own advice and I don't whine about peoples jokes on the internet. That is just dumb on your part.
