Stress/Anxiety

Recommended Posts

This is pretty new to me.  For the past few weeks, i've gone through a bit of a down time because of a personal event that happened.  During this, i didn't really notice anything weird, such as a loss of appetite or sleeping problems, but i've suddenly lost my appetite, especially during the day, feeling tired, not really with it and my sleeping hasn't been great.  Things get a bit better around 9pm, when i'm at home, watching tv and feeling a bit more relaxed.

This has all happened after i thought i had got over what happened a few weeks ago; i was worried during this period, but still had an appetite, motivation and was sleeping better.

Has anyone gone through a similar situation?

I was a bit like this when my dad was in hospital, before he was diagnosed with cancer.  We more or less knew it was cancer, but him been in hospital and not officially diagnosed made it hard to concentrate.  I did lose my appetite, and sleep was not normal.  I was a lot quieter at work and elsewhere, and found it hard to concentrate but tried to put it out of my mind as much as I could.

Once he was diagnosed it was easier, even though there wasn't anything they could do.  He died a few weeks later, only about 10 weeks after 1st going into hospital.

yeah, a lot.

you need to keep exercising,  the body released hormones that make you feel better, and it really helps with sleep a lot.    once you sleep better the anxiety can go away.

also, a "Vitamin B complex" supplement helps.

i exercise a lot, but i've lost my motivation for it.  I did force myself a few times and it did improve things, but i find it very difficult to get the motivation during the day.  It's 10pm now and i feel motivated, but when i wake up, i go through the motions and feel rubbish.

yeah, that is exactly how it normally is.   i noticed the morning were the worst.

i prefer forcing myself to jump in a pool first thing in the morning (not sure if you have a chance...  i am a condo dweller, so pool is always there)

forcing yourself to exercise works for EVERYONE.

you also need to deal with what is making you unhappy. lots of ways.  however not work for everyone!     so i am not recommending specifics.      because what works for me might not work for you,

especially since i dont know what caused your anxiety.

Without going into too much detail myself... Things will get better, try to keep yourself motiviated.  If your anything like me, your fine unless you stop and think about it? If your busy I bet you dont even realise.  The fact you said things get better when your at home watching tv, that'll be because your mind isn't thinking, only concentrating on the TV, so you forget.

When things start to go wrong in my personal life, the first thing to go is always my appetite. Followed by sleep. I usually remedy it by taking an extra strength sleeping pill (if you can handle the extra-sleepy mornings) and do my best to force myself to eat. Sounds simple enough, but I know how difficult it can be. You do not have to enjoy what you are eating, just make sure you get that nutrition. If you still are not eating enough, make sure you are at least taking a multivitamin so that your body is getting what it needs (albeit it is much better to get these nutrients in your food). I still find a way to exercise when I feel awful. Sometimes I can use it to motivate me, but if I am already not eating well enough the workouts never come easy.

Power through it and eventually once the other problems get slightly better you will notice you are already in a routine that keeps you healthy. Kind of like a mindless robot, but it works, lol. Good luck!

Exercise, yes. Wasting energy right in the air when one could have done useful work. Some environmentalist terror group should kidnap all these sports jocks, confiscate their water bottles and hand wraps, lock them all in an empty basement and make them starve, so they don't find that energy in the first place for purely metabolic reasons.

But because I won't ever be that lucky, instead of clowning in a gym forcing to "vent anger and frustration", I'd recommend involving yourself in charity, do voluntary construction work. Become busy, but also help others. Or be creative, do some gardening or any other manual labor.

Not that it has ever helped me in any way.

Have you, oh I don't know, thought about seeing a doctor and/or a therapist? Your problem may stem from the major life event you experienced, or it could be something physical that you haven't even considered.

Bottom line : Don't play games with your health or listen to some blokes on the internet. Get professional help.

Best of luck to you, saxondale.
