V-Tech
Following its availability at several Best Buy locations across the US, LG's 55-inch curved OLED TV is finally making its way to Europe. The company today announced that it'll arrive in Germany this week for 8,999 euros (roughly $12,000), with wider availability and pricing set to be announced in Q4. LG notes that it stands as the first to offer this type of kit in both the US and the EU, though, we're sure Samsung won't lag too far behind as usual. Full press release after the break. http://www.engadget.com/2013/08/25/lg-55-inch-curved-oled-tv-germany/
Dotdot
So does the curve enhance viewing?
AlexMagik
So does the curve enhance viewing? yes, because your view is not square but on the sides you could actually see more, so having it curve you will see (if not too far) better details on the sides while you watch the central part. if you sit far from the tv, it's useless. but if close enough to be your full view, will be a much greater experience. The_Observer
Interesting, will be around 5 years before i get home. But am interesting in if you can wall mount this.
Torolol
is curve? ... so, why theres the 'flat screen' fad happens ?
Rohdekill
yes, because your view is not square but on the sides you could actually see more, so having it curve you will see (if not too far) better details on the sides while you watch the central part. if you sit far from the tv, it's useless. but if close enough to be your full view, will be a much greater experience. That's assuming you sit dead center, right? Imagine sitting where the left OP image shows. In a typical family room (center seat is farthest from the tv and chairs are on far left and right of tv), the situation is bad for everyone as each side seat has a cut off image and the center seat is too far from the screen. TAZMINATOR
It won't be bad idea because you can use that TV in your media room... which you can have 3 or 4 people per row. maybe 3 to 5 rows back to the back wall depends how big your room space is. Shouldn't be no problem. But you can not have wall to wall row of seats facing the TV.. because it may be hard for the people who sit at either of the ends to see the TV depends on TV viewing angle. We will find out what angle specs they have for that TV. I am sure that TV is great for gaming for 1 player who can watch full view of the gaming like you see 3 monitors setup on the left side as mentioned above in OP. Correct. in fact for usual home tv, a flat screen still the best, these are for 1 or 2 people sitting in front of it, like in a cinema. any more than 2 people and you will have the problem you described. or at least not the best view, as all depends how curve that screen is. Dotdot
Just seems like the latest fad, and not a evolutionary improvement.
