U.S. Border Patrol agents nabbed a diver allegedly smuggling marijuana into the United States as he crossed the St. Clair River in a scuba suit.

Around 1 a.m. Monday the Saint Clair County Central Dispatch notified border patrol agents that a citizen spotted an individual swimming across the Saint Clair River near Marine City.

Using a video surveillance system at the Operational Integration Center on Selfridge Air Force Base, a camera operator spotted the diver and saw him pulling a dry bag behind him.

The agents apprehended the Canadian man after he got out of the water near Marine City. They found a watertight PVC cylinder holding more than 8 pounds of marijuana tied to a seawall ladder.

The man and the drugs were turned over to the St. Clair County Drug Task Force.

Why would you NOT use proper diving equipment and swim under water?

A. he would die.

B. They have underwater sensors, that's how they found this.

Darn citizen, why weren't they in bed like they were suppose to be? :p
