Metro: Last Light Coming to Linux

Recommended Posts

Popular FPS game ?Metro: Last Light? is on its way to Linux ?later this year? its developers have confirmed.

The ?AAA? title, which has reaped praise from critics for its stunning graphics and original storyline, was released for Windows, Xbox 360 and PS3 back in May.

Alongside its Linux debut, vaguely pencilled in for ?sometime later this year?, 4A Games will also be releasing a raft of additional downloadable content, including new characters, weapons and a ?Ranger Mode? for more challenging gameplay, to accompany it.

Metro is built on the 4A Engine, something that 4A Games? CTO, Oles Shishkovstov, describes as being ?testimony to the power flexibility of the engine?.

?Development was handled in house by 4A games, and we are very happy with the results. We hope that Mac & Linux gamers will appreciate our efforts to create the best possible version for their machines.?

damnit. i had a plan set to sell my 5 disc cd collection + manual of red hat linux from 1996 on fleabay because its value would have skyrocketed, and some bozo collector would have made me a little bit richer.

This can only be a good thing. It will lead to better drivers and standardization for Linux. Personally I think Debian based distros (Ubuntu, mint, elementry) will help make Linux a more mainstream option for gamers. Choice is good!

I too look for them to become the standard bearers. However, if they are wise they won't leave the other distros out of the loop.

  • 2 weeks later...

Its becoming a better place for Linux gaming, I also hear that Blizzard are going to be announcing a Linux version of one of their top games by the end of the year.

I took Windows off my PC last night as the ATi drivers started performing a little better
