We'll see how it goes but I'm pretty skeptical.

The big questions are 1) cost of production vs alternatives and 2) does making it (power use etc.) create more carbon than it captures? Until the trades are done it's a pipe dream.

^ The electric light bulb was also once a dream. ;)

You could always limit the production to areas where renewable energy is viable.

And what long term side-effects are there from using this?

Even if this might be a useful new tool in our fight against CO2 emissions, let's not forget the many other problems posed by our dependence on fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are highly flammable, explosive, toxic materials; their mass transportation poses problems we haven't solved yet, resulting in many catastrophes every year; it's not just the potential long-term problems but the very real human toll year after year, nevermind the whole geopolitical problem of securing the middle-eastern reserves. Moreover, fossil fuels are highly useful at many other things than simply burning them, and they're not renewable; our mass consumption of them stripes us of a precious, useful resource for the future.

We would never run out of next generation recycled nano gen self lubricating low carbon emitting propelling pencils

Fossil fuels are dangerous we need to immediately switch to hydrogen ;)
