Sl@yer
I am wondering am I missing something with how the Microsoft Account works in Windows 8 or am I just expecting too much? I fully bought into the Windows 8 experience (Windows Phone, tablet and Desktop) but I am left wondering why the Microsoft account seems so half baked. I guess my expectation was that the Microsoft account would work the way Apple does (and maybe it does and I missed something). Can someone help me either clarify what exact the MA does or if I have done something wrong point me in the direction of fixing it?
Harrison H.
Can you explain what you are saying is missing or doesn't function as you'd like?
Ironman273
You really haven't said what the problem you're having is.
Lingwo
From what i can see with an MS account. It lets you do anything an apple account can and more... for free. But yeah, you need to be more specific.
Sl@yer
ok, let me try to explain a little better or maybe a lot The Microsoft account syncs my desktop between the desktop and RT tablet, along with my favourites but completely ignores my Windows phone (for the favourites anyway). If I install an app from the store that works on x86 and ARM you have to install it twice (or three times in the case of the Windows Phone, and in the case of a game (for example Jetpack Joyride from Microsoft) unless I have done something wrong it treats each install as seperate so it doesn't share leaderboards and what not. Silly examples but I am really getting started tying everything together and these are just the obvious items I have seen
Sl@yer
I think what I should have said and maybe this is the root of my issue, is that I thought/assumed that the Microsoft account was similiar to a roaming profile.
LittleNeutrino Veteran Posted August 30, 2013 Veteran Share Posted August 30, 2013 It is not supposed to share all of those thing acrossed devices, it will only share account information and treat each device as though it is a separate device rather than trying to force all of your machines to act as a single device. Harrison H.
That is changing a bit in 8.1 though. In Windows 8.1, if you install an app, it will install it on all of your machines. We're not sure of Windows Phone at the moment as no details about WP 8.1 have been released, but I think it was mentioned that favorites syncing would be there. WP8 and W8 were more of a standalone device. WP8.1 and W8.1 will be much more cloud connected to the point where things act more along the lines of what you are looking for. Sl@yer
ok, I guess I am thinking of what it "should be (IMO)" as it would make more sense if they did push it to all of your devices for a true "experience" but ok I can accept I am a little too forward thinking
