Several months ago, the Microsoft Store website offered 1600 free Microsoft Points for people who pre-ordered a select number of upcoming Xbox 360 games. One of those games was Grand Theft Auto V from Rockstar Games. That free offer expired on April 7th but now the site has revived that same deal again just for GTA V.

As shown on the Microsoft Store site, anyone who pre-orders the Xbox 360 version of GTA V on or before September 16th will get 1600 Microsoft Points. Yes, Microsoft has technically retired their Microsoft Points currency system in favor of real money, but the company will continue to accept Microsoft Points codes and gift cards for the foreseeable future. The points will be converted into real currency when added to a person's Xbox Live account.

Since GTA V costs $59.99 to pre-order, that means the free 1600 Microsoft Points effectively cuts the cost of buying the game down by $20 in real US currency. The long awaited open world crime action game will finally be released by Rockstar Games on September 17th for both the Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 consoles and is expected to be a huge sales hit for both platforms.
