Chobani to remove hemp seeds from yogurt

The Greek yogurt company Chobani announced that it will remove hemp seeds from its Blueberry Power Flip yogurt in response to the Air Force?s recent ban of the flavor, the Air Force Times reported.

Military officials claim that the consumption of hemp seeds has the potential to distort drug testing results.

?We?re committed to giving our fans what they want and are in the process of removing the ingredient from our Blueberry Power Chobani Flip. We greatly respect our armed forces and take pride in serving our troops,? Amy Juaristi, director of public relations for Chobani, said in an e-mail.

The Blueberry Power Flip comes with a side of walnuts, hemp seeds and chia, which are meant to be mixed into the product. Juaristi explained that no other Chobani products currently contain hemp seeds.

According to Capt. Adam Koudelka, the legal adviser for the Air Force Drug Testing Laboratory at the Air Force Medical Operations Agency at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, the Air Force prohibits any product that contains hemp seed or hemp seed oil.

Military members are still allowed to consume other Chobani Greek yogurt products.
