Women selling positive pregnancy tests on-line

Recommended Posts

Bizarre media buzz of the week: according to reports, a growing number of pregnant women in the US are selling positive pregnancy tests on Craigslist for around $25 a piece.

Rationale for someone buying? Some ads suggests using the positive tests to nudge a longtime boyfriend into finally popping the question. Others suggest a prank on your parents, or even asking for abortion money and splurging on a vacation.

"I will provide you with 1(one) positive pregnancy test with NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Taken same day," writes one woman from Florida. "It isn't my business what you choose to use it for!"

"I will not take any responsibility for the test after it has been sold nor will I assume any obligations for the test after it has been sold," writes another women from Toledo, Ohio, who is selling her positive tests for $10. "What you do with the test is your business. I do reserve the right not deny any requests."

According to media reports, the ads have been appearing in Chicago, New York, Houston, and other cities, with some being flagged for removal by Craigslist.

If they're that desperate to get married, why don't they get an engagement ring themselves and pop the question?

Stupid people.

Obviously this is wrong on so many levels, but damn, I am surprised at these callous responses. I'd be so insulted if I were pregnant and my partner was all "no, I don't believe you, pee on a stick in front of me". Forget that, he can move out of my house and I'll get all the child support I legally can. That would be hard enough to go through without being accused of being a liar by the person who supposedly loves me. Ugh.

You need to realize this is a big decision and something life changing. If the person your with isnt trust worthy I can definitely see doing this. Dont be greedy and be wanting child support without the guy even having a chance to be dad.

It would be completely wrong for the female to perform the test without his knowledge that it is about to take place.  In a caring, trusting relationship it is only appropriate that such life altering adventures be taken together by talking, buying the test, and he there by your side to view the results. If you feel the need to take the test behind his back, one or both of you are in the wrong relationship and should have kept your pants on to begin with.

That said, your scenario more than likely would result in you proving it is his, anyway.  In most cases, a DNA test is required  before child support is granted if the man has even the slightest doubt.

If you can't trust them to do the test alone, then it was never a caring, trusting relationship in the first place.

That's my point...it should never even come to where the woman wants/needs to take the test alone.  She should want to take it with him there.

It was a pretty emotional time for my wife.  I could see why someone would want to do it alone, if it was unplanned and they are unmarried.  I wouldn't be calling them a liar and making them prove it though, nor would I feel betrayed.  I would just set the wedding for 10 months later.

It becomes pretty obvious if its a lie by that time.

That's messed up but I am sorry you should not expect a marriage proposal or give some kind of ultimatum for it just because your pregnant.  Having both parents is great but have both parents fighting all the time because they don't love each other is much worse for a child than your parents not being together.  Getting married over a baby is stupid if you don't love each other like that.

I don't see why you+partner would not check another time, even if it is with an unopened packet that he's given you. I somewhat doubt that it is common for people to have one test anyway. Obviously though, he'd have to go about it the right way - disbelief is fine and/or shock but outright hostility would be another thing.

But the proof will come soon enough and most lies would be exposed then so i really don't see the point of these tests that she's selling.

disgusting !! If a man loves a woman, should never hesitate to marry her, unless he is not a man

Hahaha -- no one should be forced into getting married.

A woman certainly would not like that.
