Microsoft promotes Xbox One with a sponsored racing car

One of Microsoft's big launch titles for the Xbox One is the racing simulator Forza Motorsport 5. This week, the company announced that it will help promote both the game and the Xbox One in general by sponsoring a racing team that will compete in a famous racing endurance event in Australia.

The Xbox Wire site reports that the Xbox One Racing team will take part in the 2013 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, which will be held on October 10-13th. Microsoft states:

The Xbox One Racing car is the latest Holden VF Commodore and comes equipped with a 5.0 litre naturally aspirated V8 Holden, which has an estimated output of 640bhp and a top speed of almost 300kph. The car will be driven by international champion race car drivers Andy Priaulx (UK) and Mattias Ekström (Switzerland).

In addition, Forza Motorsport 5's developers at Turn 10 Studios will include the Bathhurst track, Mount Panorama. in the final game which will launch with the console on November 22nd. Dan Greenawalt, Creative Director at Turn 10 Studios, stated, "Through the use of cutting-edge technology like laser-scanning and our new materials-based graphics engine, we can now precisely reproduce the characteristics of every corner, straight and detail to sub-centimeter accuracy; from the narrow twists and turns of the Esses, to the thrilling rollercoaster sprint down the Conrod Straight."
