joke Atheist Holy Day ..

JOKE ..

In Florida, an atheist created a case against Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays..."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned..."

I get the feeling that this is a joke written by & for religious folk to ridicule non-believers. Which would be all well & good if it was a well composed joke, but it's just a snidey, patronizing little quip. I mean, it doesn't even make sense...

Unfunny and offensive towards atheists.

It's all of those things, it's a blanket insult to all atheists, hidden behind a thin-veil of an attempted joke. However if anyone points that out I'm sure the retort will be something along the lines of:

It's just a joke

You need to learn to lighten up

You need a sense of humour

Where's the joke? You can bet if Atheists pulled this crap on a Christian they'd loudly tell anyone that would listen how badly they were being oppressed.

Hypocrisy in this thread..

When a joke (even if it is a bad one) is told that atheists find offensive that's bad, but telling religious people that they believe in fairy in the sky or some such, which happens daily on neowin that is perfectly okay.

Because it is perfectly okay. And if it isn't, we need to take some hard stance on certain serious matters. Can't always - or ever - please everybody.

Now, before this gets locked because we have a very specific thread for these kinds of talks... j/k lol hahaha and

I'm sure there are funny jokes at atheists' expense, but this one ain't it. It's just retarded.

It's okay to make fun of people who believe in magical men in the sky.

Although it's probably as equally unfunny.

Well these are just as funny as that "joke".

Remember, if you get offended. You have no sense of humour.

Joke?

Man, if I was on trail and a judge made a ruling based on his/her religion, I'd be scared.

Probably because He was not called 'Jesus' in his lifetime. ;)
