Atheist Holy Day ..

Ah I get it, cos he doesn't believe in God he's a fool, whereas anyone who believes in a magic man who lives in the clouds and bushes that talk to you is a genius, not mental.. a genius...obviously

yea, no [competent] lawyer would challenge a judge like that right after a decision has been given

Hypocrisy in this thread..

When a joke (even if it is a bad one) is told that atheists find offensive that's bad, but telling religious people that they believe in fairy in the sky or some such, which happens daily on neowin that is perfectly okay.

Considering that one side's jokes are usually well-founded in fact while the other's are not, it's not exactly hypocrisy to react differently.

Nevertheless, nobody has said that the joke shouldn't be told because it offends, which is what a joke at the expense of religions would inevitably elicit. Atheists have every right to be offended at this (though that'd be kinda silly and you'll find that atheists tend not to take offense nearly as easily), just as religious folks have every right to be offended at jokes about religion. What neither has the right to do is to censor the other side from making such jokes.

I'm not offended by it personally... I think it's ridiculous and unfunny but not offensive, I am merely pointing out how amusing some people's hypocrisy is.

We are a tech forum.  We are here for hardware and software, not religious debate.  It stands to reason that when you gather a large group of higher-than-normal intelligence people together a good percentage of them will not need or desire to use an unseen creator that was probably created by man to control other men as a crutch.  Now, if somebody does choose to follow some sort of religion, that's their choice, and I may ridicule them for it, but only if they're using it to try to "prove" something; otherwise they're entitled to hold whatever beliefs they want to.  However, religious people need to respect that not everybody accepts or agrees with their views and not try to use a tech forum to preach.  You don't see me whining about how "inappropriate" the joke was, either.  The world is far too "PC" these days.  So yes, everybody, "lighten up."  Also, I prefer to use the term "imaginary friend" over "fairy in the sky."

Not so much a joke as a result of a paranoid Christian persecution complex. The idea atheists are out there planning to take religious folk to court and sue them simply for practising their religion. It's a fairy tale. Although sometimes I wish religion was an April fools joke played on humanity. Does that count?

Here are some better atheist jokes off the top of my head:

What do you get when you cross and atheist and a Jehovah's Witness? Somebody who knocks on your door for no reason.

What do you get when you cross an atheist and a Hell's Angel biker? Someone who knocks on your door and tells you to ###### off!

That's not a joke though, it's reality. :p

People need to lighten up. I'm agnostic and I couldn't care less what people think about religion, I don't see that it affects me.

Pretty much all jokes insult someone, that's kind of how jokes work. Humour isn't meant to be taken seriously.

It's not funny because it cites the Bible and that's what atheists point out to be full of contradictions.

As if atheists will give that quote any merit. It just shows that the judge is an idiot.

Don't eat pork or shellfish.

Don't wear clothes of two types of cloth.

God commands people to kill their son and people comply. It's okay to raid towns and kill all men, rape all women and keep them as sex slaves.

Death penalty is okay and stoning is a very good way of doing it.

Don't work on the day of the sabbath, which is sunday.

If you can cherrypick what is holy and what is not then why not just make a new book like the kings in the old days did?

If we can't use the Bible to criticize the beliefsystem then why are you walking around with it and cite it all the time?

If you cherrypick the good things then we cherrypick the bad things and throw them at you.

Don't use the Bible if you can't live the fact that it's full of ######.

Please tell me. Where exactly did I ever say what my beliefs were? As far as this topic goes?

And are you trying to be funny here or are you just trolling? Sad attempt at both, whichever the case.

It doesn't change the fact that many "christians" still work on the sabbath.
