Samsung Tab 2 Android update

Recommended Posts

So I bought a samsung tab 2 not to long ago from the store. It came with a version of ice cream sandwich right ouf of the box before the updates. Updated it to a version of jelly bean that I liked and it ran very smooth with it.

Then just last week I get another prmopt for a android update for  newer version of jelly bean and samsungs own touch wiz ui.

This update really screwed up my tablet and I can not downgrade. I can still return it to the store because of the time frame and receipt. I was thinking about taking it back and getting an another one . When the device shipped it came with ice cream sandwich and then updated it to jelly bean w hen I got it.

My question is if I excahnge this one will it update from Ice Cream sandwich to an earlier fesion of jelly bean like I had before and then give me an option to upgrade yet again to the newer version of jelly bean? Or will it just update to the very newest version of jelly bean available to that device.

To make things simple the device has had 2 software updates to the android since it was released. I only want to update it to the 1st update not the 2nd one.

Thanks for your help.

Just root it and flash CyanogenMod. if you need help you can find it here on the XDA-Developers forum. For instructions on flashing the rom check this thread on XDA-Developers. All cyanogenmod roms can be found here. And finally doing this will void your warranty.

If you really just want to downgrade there is a thread in the rom section of the xda-developers tab 2 sections that has all the stock roms. just download them and put them on your external sd card then use the update in recovery ( reboot holding up on the volume keys once the screen turns on again let go of the power button)

I have CyanogenMod 10.1 on my Tab 2 and find it a better experience. Good luck and let me know how it all goes.

Sounds like something screwed up with the update process. Can you do a full wipe and see if it fixes any of your issues?
