Windows 8.1 RTM x64/x86 pro/core internet explorer 11 web browsing

Recommended Posts

Hi all community,

I have just used thw WZOR RTM builds to install 2 notebooks and i have all working except for major Internet problems, anyone also have this issues?

- 1st PC  - Upgraded Win8 Pro X86 -> Win 8.1 RTM Pro (English) (with option only retain MyDocuments), all went smotthly and quiquly, i connect both to a router Wireless, but when browsing with IE11 sometimes i receive a "Page Not Found", although i have connectivity.

Strange thing with Firefox i can browse normally.

-2nd PC - Upgraded Win8 Core Locale(PT) -> Win 8 RTM Core Locale(PT) - retaining everything, i have the exact same problem has the 1st PC no consistent web browsing in IE11.

 - On the second PC i also had another problem but seems to be reported already on support of VirtualBox, that has problems with sleep mode, once uninstalled now sleeps ok again.

- I have tried already with no sucess several things like for ex.:

 - Disable "protected mode" on IE11

 - Use Ethernet cable to connect both pcs instead of wifi

 - Try forcing install intel wireless driver older used in windows 8

- Disable firewall in windows completly (just for testing)

- The only option i found that somteimes can make a diference is add one website to "Secure Websites" and it actually makes a diference because after i can browse that website(still is not that consistent!)

Has anyone experiencing the same as i have?

could you try actually describing what the internet problems are. You have described what you have attempted to solve the issue but not what the issue is itself.

Ok,

So the fact after some more testing the problem itself seems "limited connection" in Wifi, but this only happens after some time, i am starting to consider that the big problem is something to do with intel wireless ...

after some test one thing that first did (PC with Intel Advanced N-6235 Wifi)  was to delete form "device manager" the wifi card and the bluetooth realated drivers, and then do update so that the drivers were "reseted" to the Microsoft included ones.

After this i did get some more stability, but noted that after some time i get again limited conectivity, although the icon for network does't show the exclamation in icon, i just know is limited because when i disconnect form wifi and reconnect it takes a while and says limited connection.

Pressing "resolve network issues produces nothing" as the connection appears to be all good

And stranger than this is the fact that both pcs use intel card but diferent version, in windows 8 there was no problem at all, so i think maybe this is related to drivers for intel cards?

And why in the hell when i conncet says in the righ  corner the panel taht opens "Limited Connection" and the icon appears as the connection ok?

(See picture) - My Language Is PT-PT, but i think that you can see clearly what i am refereing to.

I think i will try to use another router for the connection to see if by any chance is this.

Nope , tired of trying to fix this, reverted back to windows8 and i will wait for final bits, but for sure i am goingo to backup everytyhing before updating, seems to me there are still many carppy unfished thins in this build....

LeBlanc did say - "Until the final , we will continuously be ixing the product", for me there are still many issues, and probably and hopefully they will fix them inf time for the upgrade...

Either that or the copies of WZOR are tampered...

Have you tried removing the intel drivers completely and just going with the old default Windows 8/8.1 drivers? Unless 8.1 has stupidly decided their new default Intel Centrino drivers will be the non-working ones Intel have been releasing this past year!

Having exactly the same problem as you on 8.1 Pro RTM.

Nothing through Internet Explorer just stuck on page cannot be displayed when connected via Wifi (Advanced N 6230). I copied over a Portable Firefox and can access web no problem through that.

Exactly all saying that are drivers (could be of course) but very strange the connection being all good in Firefox, also i have made many experiences, such as using a VirtualBox with nat and this to could connect without any interference, so if it is the drivers then hell!!! This messes up IE11 badly!

Byron, i have tried so much things that if i were enumerating them would be a pain. (Its not for me to trie to be the king of Hill here, but i am a veteran IT (with 15+ years in software and hardware) and i can tell you this is one is a big problema between drivers/SO, unless the team at Microsoft is really squashing bugs like this "specially when it comes to upgrade a system" then when we hit the mark for the oficial release we will see (I bet on that) many complaints  in forums across the world (Microsoft is moving this one dangerously, i can see here sothing like Vista with driver issues as pain in the but for Microsoft.

Lets wait and see... but for sure like i said i am going to make na image of my system before updating, just in case i am not going to risk a blind update that could end up like having too reformat or redo everything (It would be better if this was released like an SP)

I've been using Atheros which is quite common on Toshiba laptops but isn't exclusive on all models. My wifes' is realtek. But I'm quite disturbed with this Intel issue. :O

It is also beginning to affect Windows 8 apps and Lync 2013 (Desktop version) none of my Windows 8 Apps can access the internet connection and Lync refuses to sign in now, it is as if it is getting progressively worse.

Firefox still has no problems at all.

As soon as I connect via Ethernet everything works A-OK.
