It's not supported with Z68 officially. You can get modded bioses for some Z68 boards that have an updated Intel option ROM that has it as a beta feature but how well it would work I couldn't tell you. For a guarantee of it working properly you'd probably need a more up to date board.
Thanks that's what I was afraid of. I know I could still do what I want, but won't the lack of TRIM eventually have noticeable effects?
I looked at the EVO line and they say they get a little more sequential write throughput but the random IOPS is less. The benchmarks I've seen on Passmark are all over the place suggesting the EVO outperforms everything far and above but it seems to me they don't have enough samples to be trusted yet.
Plus, it's a cheaper model than the Pro, I just don't buy that it's the better model.
$139 * 2 = $278 when the 256GB is $249. Some other models may be cheaper but I'm sticking with Samsung. I have been using them in my server builds and they've been fantastic.
