Harry.G Posted September 11, 2013 Share Posted September 11, 2013 I just upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 RTM. I didn't do a clean install, just upgraded it and it wasn't a smooth one -- something to consider as a source of problem. While upgrading, my laptop failed to restart and bsod-ed with "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE". Since it only failed to restart, I assumed everything was fine and it was only some hardware hiccup. I pulled off my power supply because it won't restart even after bsod and boot the computer again. After that, while it was still in the process of upgrading it got stuck at "applying windows settings..." and rebooted again. It then attempted to continue with the upgrade, which it did and I got no more problems after that -- until I attempted to restart my computer. I got the message as seen in the title of this post while it was displaying the Windows logo. It then entered a bsod loop as after it bsod it restarts again and bsods again, but after a few times it would boot normally. Then I try rebooting again and the same thing happens again... Any ideas?
