Will there ever be a tablet a little bigger than the iTouch so they fit in your pocket?

Why?

You need  wireless plan for a phone.

Just buy the phone and don't get a data plan - with most providers it's separate from the voice/text. Use wi-fi hotspots for the net.

Not an iTouch, but to give you an idea of size, I have a HP Slate 7 which fits fine in my back pocket.  (Would never sit on it though - way too uncomfortable -LOL).  It is handy though if I have to pack a load of grocery bags and need a place to put it after shopping and using it for my list. :)

Nexus 4 or 7 from Google... you can get this without data plan...

iPad Mini

There are many other tablets  in alternative OSes.. such as Android, Windows, iOS, etc.

The phone is best choice because you won't be able to use hotspots in the area where they have no wireless setups.

So up to you to get either tablet (7" to 10") or a phone (in 5 to 6").
