I installed latest mint 32 bit mate Edition now after 5 mins into System the screen gets funny http://s9.postimg.org/6zezkgy73/20130912_161319.jpg Dont tell me my hardware is at fault because it's not. I went that route.. but after having to recompile nautilus, and various other programs as they would stop working.. having to re-install because of changes to the arch base.. Their XFCE version is nice but I don't like some of the choices they make. Try a Ubuntu LTS verison, and just add a PPA for whatever you want (you can add the Elementary desktop if you like). It depends. Software does some crazy things sometimes. Not sure what you use to write the USB with, but if all else fails then try dd. I use Unetbootin, myself, and it generally works trouble free. dd bs=4M if=/path/to/archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdx Taken from the ArchLinux Wiki. :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think they are just unable to write a stable piece of software. My hardware is nothing exotic. If i was not on my smartphone now i would post the hardware but what would it change anyway. simonlang Posted September 12, 2013 Author Share Posted September 12, 2013 ok installing smartctl is not possible because even when running the live os it crashes before i can launch software centre. incredible s.h.i.t. i will download lubuntu now again. it was running just fine for many months. not a single issue. i hope it works again. no need to mess arround with other distributions then because they obviously are not running very well. i wonder if they even try them out on different hardware before releasing them. again, i dont have anyting exotic. low end asrock mainboard with gpu included, 4gb ram, western digital hdd, ..... i really wonder what the deal is...
