We?ve got a report via press release that Affleck will direct the pilot for Fox?s The Middle Man, making it his small screen directorial debut. In a more detailed description of the series, it will be the story of ?Rudy MacAteer, an FBI agent charged with taking down the Italian mafia, and his confidential informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood. MacAteer?s efforts inadvertently give rise to the Irish mob, as he finds himself bending the laws he is governed by.?

The project has been in one form of development or another as far back as 2009, when Affleck was introduced to it during his time filming The Town in Boston. Caron came on earlier this summer and wrote a spec based on the story idea from writers Michael Yebba (Ordinary Man) and Emilio Mauro (God Only Knows). The casting process is imminent and production is expected to begin in early 2014.
