Dan~
So moving into our first house soon, currently at my rents were on 20mb cable, which is ample for my needs tbh. But in our new house it's ISDN at 6.5-8mb, as cannot get virgin/bt infinity yet. Was just wondering what are these speeds like? I've kinda forgotten what they'll feel like as it's been so long. Only thing I use the internet for, is playing Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Lovefilm streaming (will I still be able to stream in hd?) and general web browsing and thats it really. TAZMINATOR
Depends where you are at... look at cable or dsl website for the packages and see which package you want for the affordable price you want for that area you are moving in. Mulrian
You're going to notice it. It won't be nearly as smooth as you are used to and I doubt you will be able to stream HD anymore. Perhaps SD but not HD. That said its not going to unusable - but things aint going to be as fast. The biggest thing is when you have multiple devices using it at once. Thats when you can really notice it. But of course if you don't tend to do this I doubt it will be much of a problem.
Dan~
Can't get cable, I think they forgot the area :'( maybe one day they'll put a fibre cabinet in, as the exchange has been/will be converted to fibre
Mulrian
I remember at my old place I used to get around 7mbps and was doing alright with it until I moved and now I can barely reach 1mbps. Luckily though they just rolled out fibre so I get 40mbps on thursday. 1mbps is just painful. You can't do anything with it.
Dan~
Ah thats alright then. The thing I'm worried about is the possibility of getting STUPIDLY slow speeds, but then locked in 12 month contract, be dead annoyed them, hmmm

I highly doubt it's ISDN, I suspect you're confusing ISDN with ADSL. Also if this is the UK you should be aware most ISP's are usually very conserative with their estimates so as not to fall foul of the new rules on advertised speeds vs actual speeds. Roger H. Veteran Posted September 15, 2013 Veteran Share Posted September 15, 2013 7Mpbs isn't too slow so you should be fine for gaming and such. Downloads will take longer obviously but gaming wont be a problem.
