Need a little help deciding board and or water cool

Recommended Posts

Ok, Guys ive decided am going for The Intel Core i5-4670k, i can get a few bundles: such as

http://www.dabs.com/products/asus-4th-gen-gamer-bundle--inc-z87-k-motherboard--intel-core-i5-4670k---8gb-vengeance-pro-black--8Y8X.html?src=2

But the above does not come with a cooler, the Asus motherboard seem to have decent write up. Anyway my issue is this does not have a cooler i can get the same bundle but individual from amazon for ?15 less.

So in regards to a cooler, im looking to go down the route of water cooling again, i need a system thats not noisy and capable of over clocking so water cooling should be ok for this.. anyway with board board about Asus z-87k is approx ?100, i can get an MSI z87-g54 gaming motehr board with cool master seidon 120m water cooler for ?130... so should i go for this board and cooler or go with another water cooling system such as: Antec Kuler h20 620 CPU water cooler or the Corsair Hydro Series h60  etc... for the extra ?50.

http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/motherboards/intel1150z87chipset/atxformfactor/ga-z87x-ud4hpluscm120.html or even this seems a good board

Or Do i go down the route of http://3xs.scan.co.uk/ConfigureSystem.asp?SystemID=1295 which is all ready overclocked to 4.2ghz with an artic cooling freezer 7 pro 2 or upgrade it to a water cooler?

Help guys big dilemer, I really dont wanna go over the ?400 as i still need to get a case and a PSU so hoping a 500w should do the trick the now!

The Intel CPU, unless it isn't retail, comes with a stock cooler. But for overclocking, the stock cooler won't work as well.

I'd recommend the Corsair H80i. I own it myself, and the system keeps it nice and cool as well as quiet.

I have about half a dozen of stock heatsinks in my computer parts drawer. Intel as well as AMD.

You don't need water cooling for that. There are virtually silent air coolers that cost less, are more reliable, easier to install, and provide substantially the same cooling power as water coolers.

Easier to install? Heck, my H80i was easier to install than any other air heatsink...

Well, you have to make sure you have a spare 120mm exhaust next to the CPU, or remove the included case fan on the rear exhaust otherwise. For the dual-fan ones like the H100i this is problematic in many cases. Granted, single-fan ones won't present any challenge in most cases, but it's still hard to beat the simplicity of the latest Noctua heatsinks for instance. 2 screws and you're done.
